I don't think either one would necessarily do much better than the other, but I think Ward-Kovalev would have a slight edge in my mind. But WTF do I know?

And while we're on it, I know Andy Lee isn't getting much love here, but wasn't Duddy on some smaller PPV events back in the day? Or am I mistaken?

I think the lack of opposition is a big problem for Canelo. Let's assume he beat Cotto, and he obviously isn't planning to fight GGG, who's he going to fight that will be a big PPV draw? Charlo? Andrade? His options are very limited as far as being the next PPV king goes.

I think Canelo is big enough, that if he beats Cotto and keeps winning, it won't much matter who he faces, and he'll be able to carry a PPV better than anyone else short of Pac and Floyd - except maybe in rare instances where the fights are truly compelling match-ups. Then maybe those type of fights would beat Canelo up against a TBA type.

Agree with pretty much everything you said.

I really wish HBO would put a little more effort into marketing Kovalev I think his in ring style and his personality are far more human and more appealing than GGG's, while I love GGG.... his aw shucks I can't speak proper English good boy act manufactured by HBO and Sanchez will get old real fast, they need to start treating and selling him as something other than the gimmicky brand they've created.

GGG/Ward since GGG is by far the closest out of those names to being PPV draw. Though, it still wouldn't do much. GGG/Canelo doubles perhaps triples what GGG/Ward would do.

    And Canelo-Cotto probably quadruples that.

But the point is, Pac & Floyd are Tier 1 stars, Cotto & Canelo Tier 2.

These deliberately included match-ups between boxers who fall far short of the drawing power celebrated by the big 4 cash cows.

The best fight to make in boxing right now is Stevenson-Kova.

You'd serve yourself well agreeing with me more often (fight predictions themselves aside).

None of then would do anywhere near the numbers Froch v Groves II did on PPV in the UK (just short of 1m supposedly) which just goes to show where the MECCA really is. I doubt they'd even beat Bellew/Cleverly or Brook/ Gavin. At that's 5 times less the population to aim for. :deal:deal
