Which of these retired British boxers most deserves a place in the IBHOF?

Conteh, on the basis that he's the most skilled and talented fighter we have ever had.

Hamed for me, excellent record and brought excitement and international appeal which counts to an extent in the IBHOF.

voted Conteh for chronological reasons and in appreciation of a great fighter.

 

I reckon Lloyd Honeyghan beat better fighters than Hamed, personally.

 

Not as many consistently. Plus he's had longer to get in.

 

Turpin beat a better fighter than all of them, doesn’t mean I’d rank him higher. Arguably a weight drained Curry.

 

Eh? He beat more fighters of a higher calibre in a much more competitive and stacked division. He did this with horrendous hand problems and alcohol problems, and didn't cripple anyone outside the ring.

 

Outside the ring is irrelevant. Tyson, Monzon etc show that.

The other, apart from Finnigan and Lopez (Ahumada to an extent), I don’t see it.

 

Don't rate Naseem's record much at all.

Honeyghan's beating Curry, Bumphus and Blocker is more impressive than anything Hamed has done IMO.

The Curry win speaks for itself, yeah he was probably weight drained but he was still a very formidable fighter and in the very highest echelons of the pound for pound rankings.

Bumphus and Blocker weren't just pretty faces either, Johnny was a former champ and was coming off a win over Marlon Starling, Blocker would go on to beat the likes of Mamby, Starling, and Luis Gabriel Garcia, all top fighters.

Hameds record is very thin in comparison IMO. To the degree that I can't see how he'd rate higher than Honeyghan, if his record is inferior. I rate on resume.

 

Fair enough, I probably agree.

Curry isn't in there though, so unlikely for Honeyghan to be.
