As in, did I think Herman got robbed? Nah.

It was indeed during Paulie's worst period as a fighter, though.

    McGirt did almost ruin him.

Night and day, watching Paulie pre-Buddy or post-Buddy as compared with during their union.

Maybe the worst pairing of a notable trainer & notable boxer of all time. Worse even than Floyd Sr. & Dawson, although with less verbally contentious aftermath.

Oscar was fat, out of shape with manboobs and his fight with Sturm was still fun to watch even if he got the robbery W :cus

In hindsight,I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did (Paulie n Buddy)and big Floyd didn't fare too well with Hatton either.

Malignaggi's career was set back more by McGirt than by Cotto, Hatton, Diaz & Khan combined.

Floyd Joy is an abysmal trainer. Roger is the talented one. (as it was in their competitive days)

Did Turbo just post in this ****ing thread?

    Whitaker-Hurtado (Clutch)
    Gavilan-Turner
    Holyfield-Cooper
    Leonard-Kalule (opening mention)
    Duran-Cuevas

I'm a little thrown off though, P. All of my favorite fighters fights are celebrated... In my own mind. :nod

Like someone mentioned Duran-Palomino. To me, it's celebrated as arguably his greatest technical performance ever.

As an admirer of Pea, yeah - gutting it out and then closing the show. Putting on a rare (for him) punching display. Nice.

However, my problem with that one is that I was always a big Dio Hurtado sympathizer. Always thought he could've been special if not for that chin letting him down at key points in his career. So that one kind of chaps my ass. :yep

He was so close to adding a legend to his resume...

Yeah, it would've been an immense win. Though Pea was face-first into the coke (allegedly) and the writing was pretty much on the wall for him after the Rivera fights. He was there for the taking, and Hurtado damn near pulled the trick.

I remember Kalule as an amateur in the 70's , he went to Cuba and caused a good impression. There was a black kid in my class who looked like him and he adopted for life the nickname "Kalule ".
I didn't know he fought Leonard as a defending champ, thanks for sharing

Floyd's fight against Victoriano Sosa was a good one too that nobody talks about much on here.
