This is not necessarily who would win the most titles etc but who would have the biggest fanbase and thus create the largest purses if they came along in this era?

Dempsey has to be a good starting point.......

    Thoughts?

    Dempsey
    Marciano
    Battling Nelson
    SR Leonard
    Louis
    Ali
    Armstrong
    Robinson
    Jersey Joe Walcott

All beloved fighters of their time with flashy/unique/thrilling styles and charisma in one way or another. I think the swarmers especially would be a hit today

    @BlackCloud How you been?
What is your cut off date?
Dempsey I believe holds the record for 1st rd knock outs so he would be at the top of the list for sure.

While Dempsey has an impressive 19, he's actually in 3rd place in heavyweight champs, next to Tyson (21) and Briggs (40 something?)

    I'm good thanks bud....you well?

No cut off date, can be anyone from history.
Dempsey would surely attract a huge fanbase on the way up.

    Graziano.

    Gaspar Ortega.

These guys would get some big paydays from their exciting styles and awesome fights.

I could see Basilio filling the void left from Gatti

And I think Chacon, Limon, Navarette & Boza would set their divisions on fire.

Also, if you go really far back, John L Sullivan would be a superstar.

    I'd be avoiding heavyweights personally.

    Strange quoting there!
For some reason it shows roughdiamond instead of JT.?

Well it's a big leap of faith as to whether the early guys would be successful at heavyweight. If they campaigned at Cruiserweight they would be fighting in a less prestigious division.

Yep, see your point fully, but nothing stopping Dempsey drawing the crowds at Cruiser to begin with before a possible move north if he keeps knocking them over that is.
