Which Olympics produced the best talent pool?

    1988 was a solid year but my knowledge of Olympic history is sketchy.

    1984 .some good fighters came from the game's in LA.

    Probably US 1976 and then US 1984 teams.

    '88 produced Jones and '96 produced Mayweather, but neither team had much else as far as elite pro talent.

    As far as for the whole World, I don't know the answer but before the fall of Soviet Union and Eastern Block a lot of great talent never turned pro. So, maybe something after '88.

    I do know that although not many US Class of '88 did much,
    South Korea had a few- Sung Kil Moon comes to mind.

    They are much more from any year, but i forgot many names and also many where out before getting medals.

    '84 also had Meldrick Taylor, a young Lennox Lewis, Paul Gonzales, Frank Tate, and Damiani.

    Trevor Berbick and John Tate also boxed in the 76 Olympics to make 4 future heavyweight champs at that games.

    1972 produced Wilfredo Gomez, Alfonzo Zamora, Mate Parlov, Alan Minter, Marvin Johnson, Miguel Angel Cuello and Maurice Hope.

    Yeah, Stevenson got wins over almost every heavy of the era of wasted talents.
