Which one is currently the worst division?

Got to be LMW. Its a depressing excuse for a boxing division

 

LH is a underrated division, and so might LM.

The weakest for me is LWW.

 

I don't know... but the strawweight is pretty weak in the post-Calderon era... but there are good contenders like Roman Gonzalez.

You know to decide which is the weakest you have to consider at least 3 options:
-how good is the elite
-how good are the contenders
-how much are the champs and the contenders willing to fight each other.

I wouldn't say LMW is THAT weak.
-champs: former p4p-er Forrest, former undisputed champ Spinks who almost defeated Taylor at MW and two undefeated champs, Alcine and Dzindziruk, both very well kept secrects. Not bad at all
-contenders are: DLH, Mayorga, Joel Julio, Bunema, Ouma, Simms, Powell, Kirkland, Karmazin, Martinez, Baysangurov, probably Paul Williams. Not bad
-fighting each other? now that one pulls down LMW to the bottom.

And what about bantamweight?

so-called stars and not wanting to fight each other to avoid a possible loss and not getting the chance at one guy. Each of them just fight nobodies while waiting their turns to fight that one guy.

 

Don't understand how anyone can presently have a goo at the light heavyweight division. Its actually got interesting all of a sudden - certainly far more interesting than the days of Jones Jr fighting on a different planet from Michalczewski. At least it looks like the present top fighter are getting it together. Is certainly far healthier than heavyweight which is embarrassing

 

have to say 154.

3-4 years ago it was looking like it could become one of the best in boxing...but its certainly fallin alot. even the good guys at 154 are older than 30 years old so they wont last long.

probably the best guy at that weight is Alcine(no kidding) and he's 31 already.

dont see alot of good things happeneing at that weight right now...too bad:-(

 

I enjoy the heavyweight division and follow it closely. Povetkin, Ibragimov, Wlad, Chagaev, and Boytsov are all exciting IMO. Haye will be joining soon.

I think 154 is the worst, while CW has only one really good fighter in Haye, and he's moving up after he defeats Maccarinelli. LWW is very weak, really - Hatton's limitations were revealed by PBF and after Ricky, there's not much there.

Super Middleweight is the best, with about a dozen talented and/or exciting fighters. Middleweight has three good ones in Pavlik, Lee and Abraham but is otherwise mediocre. LHW has some great old fighters: Jones, Hopkins, Tarver, Woods, and now Calzaghe.

Welterweight is overrated: it has only two elite fighters in Cotto and Mayweather, and two past prime greats in Mosley and DLH - the others are nothing special.

 

CW IMO, their is no money to be made there. Their is hardly any big names fighting in that division, it's basically been a dead division for a while.

 

I don't know how anyone wouldn't have 154 as their answer. There is not one marquee name in that division(unless you count Oscar), and there is not one interesting matchup to made in that division. Crap divisions like 154 are why there need to be more interdivision fights. 160 isn't that good, 140 is okay, same with 175. HW isn't great, but there is some good matchups to made. CW is actually exciting, same with 168. WW is the top division, 130 is right behind it followed by 135.

Once again, these guys need to start looking at fighters right above and below their divisions in order to get some better fights made.

 

I would have 115 just ahead of 135, but yeah, 154 is horrible.

 

I was going by the divisions on the list. 115 is a really good division though. Alot of those lighter divisions would be better served if they merged. Right now, 115 and 112 can produce a lot of good fights between them.

There are some great fighters in the lower division, very skilled. Wonder when they will get their air time?
