Which one of these 3 fights would you have most liked RJJ to have taken?

Well he cold have beaten them. He might even be the favourite. But none of those matches were foregone conclusions. It's a real pity that we never got to see those fights (well, apart from Hopkins). The current possible fight against Calzaghe just doesn't mean as much as it would have six or seven years ago.

The odd thing is, at the time, the Michalzweski fight looked like the one that mattered. Time has given us a different perspective. Now we knoe that Calzaghe and Hopkins are the names that would ring through the ages on Roy's resume.

I would have loved to see all 3. But probably Michalczewski, because those two guys were the top dogs at 175 for a number of years and it's amazing they never fought. In hindsight yea...maybe the Hopkins rematch or Calzaghe matchup would have done more for his legacy but Michalczewski was no push over either, and I think needed to be dealt with. I mean imagine having all the belts and still not regarded as undisputed?

At the time, the Michalczewski fight was the one I wanted to see. But in retrospect, he didn't really beat anyone of note with the exception of Hill.

Calzaghe and a second Hopkins fight, given what we know about the careers of those three fighters from that point on, are the ones that add something to Roy's list. At that point in time I certainly wouldn't have predicted that all these years later Calzaghe and Hopkins would still be elite fighters, but boxing is notoriously hard to predict.

It does make me sad to see Hopkins - Calzaghe and it seems Calzaghe - Jones now, when the fights just don't mean as much. All three are past what we would normally consider to be a boxers prime.

I would have liked him to fight DM to finally shut up all his haters, but of course that would not be enough even if he destroyed the guy.

Dariusz, i think he was the only guy with a legitimate shot of beating him at that time.

Hopkins Jones I is a perfect example of a fight happening before is should have. Just think how big it would have been 5 or 6 years later. But at the end of the day the fight did happen.

Calzaghe was a nobody at the start of the 2000's, and a fight between he and Jones would have been no different then the 93 fight between Jones and Hopkins. People would still be cring for another fight no matter how bad Jones would have KO'd Joe.

DM is the fight that should have happened. Shame on both guys for not making the fight. I stand by my mindset that neither guy really wanted that fight. DM was happy fighting b-level guys and making 4 to 5 million per fight to do it. All the while telling his fans after every fight that he wanted Jones. Jones just acted like DM wasnt even a factor...Even though most people that didnt like in Germany or Poland felt the same way, its still a fight that should have happened.

Well i'm European but personally i've never given a rat's ass about a possible Jones-DM fight.
For God's sake this guy went life and death with guys like Richard Hall and Derrick Harmon and he still gets the most votes in this poll? If that's because of Europeans voting for him, then i'm ashamed to be one.

    Hopkins Vs. Jones II
    @ Middleweight/Super Middleweight

Also a James Toney Vs. Roy Jones II would have interested me more than those other fights.
(But I agree with Roy, why fight them again, always fowards never backwards)
