Hagler and Wright have long been surpassed

What about some of the others?

But Golovkin is a ducker himself. A ducker can never claim he is being ducked . Ever.

    Here's my problem.

If we're gonna compare historically the situation at present is most similar to the Liston situation.

There you had a perceived weak champion and a perceived unstoppable contender.

Liston would not turn down a career high payday to fight Patterson because he felt he was worth more. He took whatever he was offered because the ultimate prize was the championship recognition.

If Canelo wants to offer a flat fee of 10 million, Golovkin needs to accept it to make the fight.

The biggest problem with belts is that too many can pretend to be champion.

    Charley Burley?
Joey Giardello couldn't get a title shot for a long time despite being ranked.

    Peter Jackson?
Neither Saunders or Eubanks from our shore have any intention of getting in the ring with GGG

    you silly boy.

I would be rooting for Golovkin to win the fight and make history by unifying the division.

I also post on the classic a whole lot more than the General Forum.

Golovkin's Manager Rips Eubanks: Those Clowns Lost Their Shot

Sounds like it is Golovkin doing the ducking of Eubank to me. A ducker can never claim to be ducked.

Glovokin isn't even the most ducked fighter in this era. Rigo is.

Different scenario. No one knows who Rigo is. Golovkin is arguably the biggest name in boxing. Big money and 3 belts to be won there.... yet the top of the division continue to bow their heads and pretend to look away

Sanchez said this to esnewsreporting.com about Golovkin being open to moving down to 154 for a fight against Pacquiao.

“If he’s honestly talking about that and it’s something that can be done and Manny is agreeing to that and Golovkin’s people agree to that, who knows?” said Sanchez about a fight between Golovkin and Pacquiao.

    http://www.boxingnews24.com/2016/11/sanchez-golovkin-go-154-pacquiao/

Pushing for a fight with Pacman now? :shakehead: Wasn't he happy with one welter weight , now he wants another?

Has there ever been a bigger joke in the sport of boxing than Golovkin . That is the real question.

Pre 1950 there are obviously quite a few (Jackson, Langford, Wills, Burley, Williams, Charles to name some), but since then I can't come to think of many that have been so obviously avoided. None comes to mind actually.

Harry Wills was far more "ducked" than GGG will ever be, as are dozens of other fighters from the past. What an awful, generic thread.
