Which other heavyweights in history could have taken the shots Ali took in the Shavers fight?

Exhibit A, Shavers couldn't put away a shot Ali.

Exhibit B, what Shavers did to a prime Holmes.

    I can't help but find A impressive!

Stop Ali? Stop Holmes? Who else did that unless Ali had parkinson`s or Holmes was in his late 30`s? Shavers didn`t stop big names because he wasn`t that good, it takes more than one punch KO power to make it as a heavy and despite his power he missed a lot of shots, Holmes was in a bad way when Shavers hurt him but he was sloppy as hell ytring to finish Holmes, if he had landed another right hand like the one he floored Holmes with he would have stopped him.

My friend you don`t punch with anything like enough power to floor a prime Larry Holmes or rock Ali, WTF?

I think the better question is which champions would have been in the position to take the punishment Ali took?

I’m Not trying to degrade Ali here, his ability to absorb punishment was second to none, but the fact he was even in a position to take this kind of punishment speaks volumes to how much he had deteriorated as a fighter at this point in his career.

In his book Box Like the Pros he says the exact same thing about the jab, of course, so do many boxers and old-time martial artists. And just punching on the bag myself I can know that the jab must lead all combinations.

I learn most of my stuff from Fouts Boxing Theory even when my instincts sometimes say Fouts is wrong like when he stated Joyce is like Ray Robinson! I decided to watch some Joyce fights after that and while I can see his head movement is crappy his combo`s are very varied and he does go to the body with combo`s like Ray, Fouts knows his stuff.

    Stop selling yourself short.

You are faster and also punch harder than Earnie Shavers. This shouldn’t be in dispute.

The measuring device of fighters like Ali and Holmes (and Cobb, Tillis, Quarry) saying that Shavers was the hardest hitter they fought means nothing against your tinpot baseless opinion.

And you know that cause ?!
As I've already mentioned, I've seen amateurs that have the power to floor both Ali and Holmes, if they put their bodyweight behind the punch like Shavers did, the problem is they wouldn't be able to land.

Come on this is kind of getting silly now. How does someone who is faster and hits harder than Shavers have a best result of 3rd in some 16 year old local amateur comp? Your fundamentals must be atrocious if you had those physical advantages at 16 and couldn't even win a local age group comp?

There's more to winning than just speed and power. Look at Wilder.
I was a kid back then and some amateurs were way more skilled than me.
Plus the head gear makes a huge difference.

I'm well aware there's more to it than that which means you must have been pretty darn unskilled. Look I'm not buying it that you potentially hit harder than Shavers, that's an absurd claim.
