It says everything that your examples are a fight in which Wlad beat the absolute crap out of a guy who should’ve been a boss in Wolfenstein 3D, a guy who’s an ATG h2h heavyweight who beat Wlad in a competitive fight when Wlad was about 40, and a guy who Wlad knocked out before he even started his title reign.

OK, so, I'm gonna say it. I think Norton is...overrated. I think he was a great fighter, but I think because of the success his style brought him against two of the greats colours our collective memory of him. I think Fury, Usyk, Holyfield, Lewis, Bowe, Tyson all beat him, and beat him well. I'd even make him 50/50 with Bruno and I'd favour Mercer over him
Frazier would have beaten him. Wlad and Vitali beat him. But he'd have been live in all those fights. He was catnip for Ali...and sometimes that's the way of it.

Let's all witness the hard time

I'm going to humbly suggest that it's been a long time since you watched that fight and misremembered what happened. Wach landed one good punch (a right hand) all night and his jab was a non-factor.

I would’ve loved to watch Norton fight the version of James Toney who showed up for Holyfield.

Just refreshed my memory now. Chambers was competitive early and landed the cleaner punches. But it was by no means one way traffic and I think Povetkin's higher volume and physical toughness plumb wore out an underrated Chambers. Povetkin is not the sort of guy that you want to fight in a phonebooth.

The idea is that Norton would have a good chance of winning if he didn’t trade.

Marciano is a tricky one, & so are a few others, like Johansson, Bowe, & Klitschko. All of these guys I could see Norton give an awfully hard time, but they might also batter him one-sidedly.
