In the states i've noticed that the big sporting outlets like Big Five carry hardly any boxing gear. I'm looking for footwear and I'd rather not shop online.
Yet asking about it from the shop assistants just draws blank stares.
They even carry wrestling shoes but not boxing. Is wrestling a bigger sport now than boxing? A lot of MMA stuff as well.
So a question for americans, which big stores carry boxing footwear and if need be is the idea of buying some basketball boots for boxing a silly idea?

Ive noticed some basketball boots have good ankle supports and look similar to boxing trainers

Wrestling shoes are very similar to boxing shoes. I would not wear basketball shoes as they are way too big and clumsy.

i love it when they answer correctly too, but that's a venezuelan airline - i don't think can help me.

Anyway i gave up - no where near me in central coast california carries boxing footwear, bought some cross-trainers, they will have to do.

Wrestling isn't a bigger sport than Boxing but Sporting Goods stores probably get more business from high school/college wrestlers than boxers. It's all about the bottom line.
