I think Eubanks awkward uncomfort that night was via the fatal outcome of his previous fight, rather than Malinga's reaching punches.

 

McCallum was the favourite; but in some local bookies, the book balance may have given the edge to Watson.

Watson clearly was off his game that night, and put in a poor performance.

But that is not to take away from The Bodysnatcher, many thought Watson would beat 'the old man', but McCallum put on one of his best performances of his career. It was a clinic and rightly deserves mention on this thread.

 

Yes, I suspect it was a significant factor, but I also think Eubank's team underestimated what they had in front of them, in the South African.

 

I would have said Wright vs Dodson, was a complete boxing lesson in a fight i thought Dodson had a great chance in, and he got well and truly hammered from what i remember

 

This made kovalev in the sense it exposed him to the world

 

I think he was poorly advised, im sure they could of milked the belt for a bit longer but decided to cash out

 

I think Sergey khomitski deserves a bit of credit it appears a lot of British fighters use him as a yard stick but come up short, so other British challengers try to out do their counterparts by fighting him as well

 

Had to be the Minter fight. That was back when UK live TV had 4 channels I think, millions would have seen 1 minute or two of genuine rioting on screen! Things got grimey in there esp. for Hagler!

 

Floyd Patterson's 1966 knock out of Henry Cooper was impressive.

Three channels, and it was not rioting, it was a racist act that ruined a great moment for a proud man. Something he has never forgotten or forgiven; and something as a six year old, at the event, I have not forgot either.

 

My sympathies if you and fam were caught up in a nasty situation there. I'm not making light of racism at all by stating that the broadcast was entertaining and certainly memorable (if for the wrong reasons). I did think it might have been early enough to be pre-C4....

 

I was lucky, in that it was clear what was going to happen, that the ol' man got me out of the arena as the trouble began, but Harry Carpenter (for one) was not so lucky. That was not entertainment, bad or otherwise.
