Which two do you think were higher quality boxers? Or is it a meaningless question when you get to a certain level?
Ali/Louis are more significant but Charles/Moore where the better fighters imo. But you are right. From a certain point of view it is meaningless. All four are legends and will be remembered.
Moore/Charles for me. Charles the best...followed by Ali...followed by Moore...followed by Louis. Ace, King, Queen, Jack.....Ace/Queen beats a King/Jack...Im all in.
I think Moore better than Louis is the really big shout here...care to go into a little more detail as to how you see it that way?
IMO Moore has the superior resume and from all the film I can gather and the research Ive done he fought and beat the better fighters overall. Ill freely admit heavyweights of any era are not my forte...I have have an automatic bias against them, as much as I try to fight it.
Personally, I think hw is one of the weakest divisions. Lightweigh, Welterweight, Middleweight would be the hardest.
Moore definitely fought better men, but he did lose more too, and Louis looks quite close to unbeatable in his absolute prime...I do think Moore should be ranked higher all time though. In terms of who did boxing better? I'd tend to give Louis the nod if i'm honest.
Charles and Moore are the greater pairing both guys have better resumes then the other two and were able to dominate against bigger guys as well as the best their size. However Louis and Ali are more influence and have had a bigger impact on the sport.
Without weight classes aka any man can face any man regardless of size - Ali & Louis are the top 2 fighters in history probably.... they both beat men bigger & stronger in their careers that isnt allowed to happen in any other division. Charles did step up to HWT with good success but Moore, not so much. That aside, from the footage Ive seen, I rank Ali & Louis higher anyway... but to be fair, Ive not seen a tremendous amount of Charles or Moore... I have seen them tho.
