Beanpole Freddy fought in a primitive era where big men were better at pitching hay than demonstrating any type of boxing skill

Interesting that Povetkin overtook Ike for the moment.

Ike's 2 best wins are probably better than Povetkin's two best wins. But Povetkin does have more depth since he beat the likes of Chagav, Whyte, Price etc. I don't really count the Byrd win since that Byrd was done.

Still, i would place Ike ahead of Povetkin. I can't see Ike struggling with Marco Huck.

I've picked Ike because although i go against picking him in all sorts of matches vs ATG's the fact is he could well have ended up being pretty frigging good. He was big, had a great jaw, excellent stamina and some skill. He went toe to toe with Tua yet tracked down Byrd. That's a couple of good victories over extremely contrasting styles.

I'd roll the dice on him in this one. We know the limits of the rest of them.

The problem with Ike is that he was a head case so whilst he could've got a few solid wins his longevity would be non existent as he would likely implode like he did in the 90s.

Povetkin was more proven imo and had a much deeper resume and longevity

Like the majority, I decided on Ibeabucchi. Because, realistically, we do not know its full capacities.

I think Quarry would be a quite a wild card. Tough as nails, but most likely would be getting cut all over the palce as in the 70's.

He'd be fun as a cruiser. I feel like Povetkin was a better version of Quarry.

Povetkin was a better pressure fighter than Quarry, cause Quarry shouldn't have been one.
He was an amazing counterpuncher and could pour it on, but his Dad wanted him fighting out of a crouch, which he still was able to see pretty good success with.
If you want to see what I'm talking about, just see the Quarry from the first Patterson fight as opposed to the Quarry of the first Frazier fight.

I feel like Ibeabuchi is the only reasonable pick. I'd like to go with my old friend Jimmy Young but he's just too small, I can't picture guys like him or Quarry being good at our current version of Heavyweight when they could easily prosper at Cruiser.

They were both excellent short-armed counterpunchers, crafty. But Povetkin was bigger, more seamless on the defensive end, and more disciplined.

And yet we could argue that Quarry had the better wins.
