Was backed up by impressive subsequent performances?

I can think of a few but I'll start with recent ones.

Andre Ward v Froch.I'm a big Froch fan,and although Ward had impressed me, he was absolutely sublime that night.I thought he had been a tad overrated but he proved me wrong in a big way.I never thought it possible that a SMW could outmuscle Froch the way he did and the technical nuances from him were stunning at times.
Then he gave the perfect anti-southpaw display v Dawson, and regardless of the weight drain, Ward was flawless that night.

Broner v DeMarco. Was never in doubt about his ability, and DeMarco was no Sweet Pea,but Broner answered in the best possible way that night, and I was even more impressed with the way he walked through Rees after that.

Ricky Burns v Martinez.I'm not pretending Ricky's elite but I bet on him that night purely out of loyalty as a local fan.Things haven't been perfect since but when you consider where he was before Martinez,he's Europe's most improved fighter.

Danny Garcia v Morales 1.I've always been honest about the fact that I find it hard to score subjectively when a genuine alltime favourite is involved, and my scoring was way out of wack, but I've been impressed with Danny since.

Wasn't surprised when Bernard whooped Pavlik and was always a fan.

I'm trying to do a genuine thread here guys, so I'm asking that you keep it to the subject at hand, and not into drivellous **** about certain fighters mentioned.

In fact, first to mention Broner v Burns(after me) wanks big dogs and sucks **** for cigarette butts.

    Froch vs Abraham

I expected Froch to try and trade with him and get KO'd. Instead he boxed him, kept his distance, and put on a close to flawless performance. He proved that he was not just a brawler, like many thought, but is actually quite skilled.

Good shout.Good when a fighter shows there's more to his game than most thought.
That could be a thread in itself...

    Nice observations on Ward.
A big deal gets made about the weight , and probably was an issue but Chad was just bewildered by angles , speed and getting beaten to the punch everytime.

Fury surprised me when he fought Rogan. I hadn't tought much of him up untill then.
He toyed with him like he was nothing before switching southpaw and putting him away with a stunning body shot. That switch up was impressive for a huge HW.
Fury is heading all the way to the top.

People who completely dismiss the weight show total ignorance but you're spot on Dino.Ward gave the perfect southpaw kryptonite performance that night.
It might have been more competitive at 175,but it was still a stunning tactical display(Rnd 2 aside)

Burns vs Martinez is a good one, didn't really see that coming.

    Winky Wright schooling Trinidad
Montiel taking out Hasegawa who I thought was the real deal

I thought about mentioning Winky v Trinidad Stevie,as it's one of my favourite performances, but I had a gut feeling Winky could do it, so only the ease with which he managed it surprised me.

Don't agree with DeMarco Broner..Think it was just DeMarco fought a terrible fight - Would have lost a decision if he fought on the outside and got stopped trying to fight on the inside.

    Paulie TKO Senchenko

Mares vs. Moreno. Many were labeling Moreno the next Whitaker and even had him a top 10 p4p. Mares raised his game and resulted in a beautiful performance of an A+ pressure fighter handling an A+ boxer. Moreno is definitely in the same league as Nonito or Rigo I'd love for these 4 to fight each other and create their own mini Fab 4. I just hope Moreno hasn't lost a step since the loss and Mares gains momentum to keep paving his way to greatness. Many expected Mares to be competitive, but not dethrone Moreno like he did.

Man i remember that time I was shocked most were picking AA by KO, won money on that fight, but would have won more if it wasn't persuaded by people, i started doubting myself on that one, same with fights like Burns vs Katsidis.

I was very suprised in Pac vs ODLH, I predicted a close first 4, then a someone to be stoppeed in the corner on the stool after 8, but I thought it will be Pac to be stopped after 8 succumbing to the size and strength difference.

Obviously hindsight has since changed the view of the fight.

As for the most impressed, not sure, maybe Donaire vs Montiel, I saw Montiel as a solid P4P fighter, thought Donaire on points or maybe late stoppage in a tough fight, but damn I was impressed by that.

like miniq - Pauli vs senchenko - I was expecting a close 50/50 fight where Senchenko would take a Hometown decision by maybe 116-112, No chance pauli, only way he could win was by stoppage, that surely wouldnt happen, but I was wrong, Also very happy I was wrong

Flintoff - Just because he had the balls to get into the ring, being a retired sports player who really got forced to retire due to injury, must have been hard in the training, he turned up in better shape than 90% of HW now

Morales vs. Garcia I and Maidana. Morales lost, but OMG I didn't expect him to do what he did. A shell of a former great with reflexes gone giving 2 of the current generation's most lethal punchers a run for their money.

Arce vs Vasquez. Pint sized lil warhorse fighting on pure heart comesback to win against a bigger, stronger, younger talented world champ.

Hopkins vs Pavlik. I admit a tear rolled down my face and never again would I route against The Executioner. I knew it was possible, but couldn't believe the old master once again against the odds not only tamed the juggernaut Pavlik, but at times seemed ready to even stop Pavlik! Unbelievable.

    I'll say Trout vs Cotto
In Trout's last fights I didn't see anything special in him at all I thought Cotto would look like a beast against him and will break him down, Trout made Cotto look so ordinary and considering Trout hadn't really fought anyone good up to that point it was a big step up for him, I woulda said Mikey Garcia vs Salido but there was still a few more rounds left, Salido was getting closer
