If Mundine wasnt top level when they fought I guess that means there were only 2 top level fighters in the division??:think Interesting:think

I actually think Kessler climbed to just outside the top 10 after his last performance. I had him somewhere inside the bottom half of Top 20 before the fight.

Lacy couldn't get anywhere near Joe all night. His limitations were evident after the first few rounds and Joe toyed with him up until the end. Kessler caused Calzaghe big problems in round 4 and gained Joe's respect. That's why Joe was happy to box at range all night and not risk stepping in to stop him.

i.e. Kessler posed more threat to Calzaghe.

    Mundine got KO'd by Ottke.

When I talk about top level, I'm talking elite. This thread is about Calzaghe's legacy so it needs to be measured by his standards, not by those set by Mundine's career.

I don't see how a boxer can be soundly beaten over the course of 12 rounds and jump almost 10 places. Don't get me wrong, I think Kessler is absolutely quality but still has much to prove.

C'mon mate at the time of the fights Lacy's power was feared much more than Kesslers:deal I guess we could debate this all day but I've got **** to do:lol:
After the 4th rd in the Kessler fight Kessler started to fall victim to Joe...I agree Joe kind of sat back, boxed and punched in spurts....However I think you'll agree Joe could've ended that fight between rounds 5-10 when Kesslers head appeared to be in the shithouse

Depends what happens elsewhere of course, but I could see him sneaking up to two or three dependant upon how the other two look when they fight.

The domination is the important part. As you know, I see it as a pretty straight forward win for Joe, but I do not consider Hopkins a dominatable (word?) fighter, so it would be something very special.

Yes, Lacy's power was feared up until 2 minutes into his fight with Joe when he caught him flush and was laughed at. No disrespect, but you seem to be confusing Lacy's hype with Lacy's achievements. Lacy had been outboxed before the JC fight only to win due to his raw power shots landing. It's debatable whether Kessler had lost more than 2 rounds in his whole career.

Calzaghe has one of the best killer instincts in the game. He knows when to move in for the finish and sometimes does it at the wrong time. One thing Joe doesn't lack is the bollocks to finish the job. If he thought he could have finished Kessler, he would have tried. I don't see any evidence of that having watched the fight a few times (the body shot moment aside).

6 places...I think Kessler's performance against Calzaghe was his best ever.

It cannot be "neither" unless you think his performance against e.g. Lacy/Eubank were more impressive..

I pick performance of Kessler. I would say the hopkins one but i know that would never happen. Sure it would be good for his legacy but why vote for it if there is no possible chance of that happening

We don't have the full picture concerning Lacy yet either even though I think he is done. If Lacy were to somehow come back and win some big fights though it would make Joe look that much better.
