This isn't an anti-Canelo thread. FWIW I do think he has abused the patriotic nature of a lot of his proud countrymen but for the sake of this thread not becoming another Canelo vs Golovkin flame war let's leave him out of the equation and see him more as the inspiration for this thread be you a fan, hater or somewhere in between.

So which fighters do you think have let down their rabid followings the most? I think Kevin Mitchell might be a good contender - which seems to be the story of his career - for that one off stadium fight against Michael Katsidis in which the West Ham faithful filled Upton Park only to watch the woefully underprepared Mitchell get blasted out. Reports of heavy nights out during camp are plentiful.

FlIVd without a doubt. I was a huge fan until he started ducking and cherry picking. Then of course the outside of the ring stuff didnt help either. What i hated was he robbed the sport and us fans by not fighting the fights that mattered when they mattered.

He built that fight up as much as anybody in a plea to his fans and Hammers fans to fill that stadium and give him the night to cherish for the rest of his life.

Canelo springs to mind but the majority of his fans dont seem to care or even really understand what he has been doing and how bad it is. He has lost some but those that love the sport and care about what happens in it are vastly out numbered by those who have no interest in the sport or their favourite Boxer until about an hour before they are due to fight. Also the sport itself seems to of happily swept it under the carpet, hes eligable to fight in under 2 months. What a punishment.

Im ashamed to admit it but i was a fan of Audley Harrison. I tend to become a fan of Boxers that seem to come across as good people, likeable guys and I couldnt help but like Harrison. I knew he had talent and i knew he had a bad chin but his own fear of getting tagged made him Box well below his abilities and i knew he could do a good job and every time he said he was ready for a come back i believed he had shaken the demons in his head, only to find out he hadnt and was worse than ever which would leave me frustrated at him and annoyed that id allowed myself to fall for it again.

Also an Audley fan here. Yeah he was incredibly frustrating, had talent, size, power but mentally just wasnt in it
