With all things considered -- Bute being the favourite, Dawon being the better fighter (than Bute), etc -- which do you rate as the better win out of the two Super Six finalists?

    Poll added! (thanks Jack)

Good question. Chad is obviously better than Bute, but he did come down in weight. Froch is not as skilled an operator as Ward which adds to how impressive he was to perform like he did. Quite a few intangibles make them similarly good wins really. Dawson is the better name on a resume though, and I think that's the overall determining factor.

Bute and its not even close. A lot of people where predicting Bute was going to be the one to beat Ward.

Good post, BHS. It's quite hard for us to say for the reasons you've given. For every good thing you can say about each win, there's also a negative. Dawson's a quality fighter, but he was brought down in weight. Bute was the favourite, but it turns out he clearly shouldn't have been knowing now how overrated he was.

So I too would say Dawson. A better scalp, simply for the reason that he's already far more established/proven than Bute, and there's a good chance he can go back up to 175 and make some noise. This only adds to the value of the win. The same can't be said for Bute, unfortunately. His myth has been shattered and it's possible that he won't do anything significant again.

History will look more favourably on Ward's win, whilst Froch's had a more shocking, immediate impact there and then.

Froch's gaining the votes so far.

Waiting for our American friends show up. I'm sure they'll have something to say...

Froch's win by quite some distance, in fact I'm surprised its even being debated.

Bute was considered #2 in the division and #9 I believe on the P4P list, the likes of Ward, Kessler and Dirrell wouldn't fight him so Froch stepped up as the underdog and battered him to a brutal stoppage.

Dawson on the other hand came down in weight and was dropped 3 times by someone who was considered to have little power, so either we've all underestimated it or Dawson struggled from the off with the weight. That's not to say the way Ward took him apart wasn't great because it was however Dawson quite clearly wasn't 100% however if Ward had moved up to fight him and the fight panned out exactly the same then I would go with that being the better win.

What does surprise me is how Bute's standing fell so much after his loss yet People still rate Dawson so highly, despite getting a gift against Johnson, not avenging his loss to Pascal and quitting against Ward.

Easily Froch's win over Bute, no doubt Dawson is better then Bute but beating a 168lb Dawson is not the same as beating a 175lb Dawson.

Bute, undefeated, natural weight and unlike Ward who was coming off a career best win, Froch was coming off loss

I think you can add a poll by clicking "thread tools", mate.

To answer the question, Froch over Bute because that version of Bute was the same guy we've seen prove himself in many other fights, yet Froch obliterated him. The Dawson who fought Ward was weakened and that diminishes the victory.
