DLH-1......DLH was an absolute monster, a completely different kind of animal then Margarito is or ever was
tough to say. Oscar was prime when they fought, as was SSM. It was a great win over a great fighter. On the other hand Shane is 37 and past prime. He dominated everound against a younger Margo who was in his prime. What a performance by the sugar man. I'd say his performance last nite is slightly better than the one with DLH.
tough to call haven't seen the whole Margarito fight yet.. But I think I'll have to go with Margarito on this one
i think the fight against oscar was the better performance, i rate oscar [who was prime at the time] a much better fighter than margarito also moving up 2 weight divisions to face him, i think it was a great performance
The fact that Shane put on such a dominant performance when he fought DLH but was given a split decision was nonsense. Id take this victory as the better of the 2 as Shane stamped his authority all over Margarito from the outset. At least DLH was still in the fight but unable to cope with Shanes speed and wasnt KO`ed.
Mosley vs. Margarito. Not many realistically thought that Mosley was going to KO Tony. He also showed a good jab and had some great body shots.
I think it's easily De La Hoya 1, Margarito is a very limited fighter and taylor made for Mosley, on the other hand De la Hoya was a really special fighter back in the day.
hard to pick for me. oscar and margarito were intimidating fighters at the time mosley fought both, but as someone above said oscar and tony are completely different fighters. for shane to come into this fight at his age and fight so well deserves big props - because if his conditioning failed him in this fight margarito would have been right back in it. but beating oscar and he really was beating him soundly early on has to rate high because oscar doesn't have slow hands, had a solid KO ratio going at that time and was a better technical fighter with better footwork than margarito. i think mosley has one the most respected resumes in boxing and he's always willing to mix it with the best, but it's always a shame that the drug issue will tarnish what he did to a point because he's gone after big fights his whole career and that's why people who don't understand the politics of boxing ever, ever have to say "no-one wanted to fight him" as an excuse for their fighter's inability to make him more marketable. next time any of you want to use this "he's being dodged" rubbish and so on as an excuse why your fighter isn't getting the fights he supposedly wants, ask yourself if people like shane mosley get big fight after big fight because they are 'lucky', or because their ability to make good fights has attracted the interest from networks and fans so that they just cannot be ignored.... i'm sure shane mosley feels mighty satisfied today.
He displayed more defensive skill in DLH 1 but I think he had more to overcome at 37 years old this time with Margarito. Its a tough call.
De La Hoya was definitely the more difficult opponent. However, as for Mosley's better "performance", it has to be against Margarito. He had the right strategy and executed it en route to a shutout with a knockout to seal the deal.
DLH. Really depends on how you look at it but DLH was a better fighter so of course Shane could look better against Margarito.
I voted for DLH but now want to take it back. It's true beating a prime Hoya who was much better than Margo in defense, speed, and power is a better win. But the fact that Mosley did what he did at 37 with the top ranked welterweight Margarito is amazing.
