The decade of 2000s saw EIGHTEEN men laying claim to at least a portion of the world's heavyweight title. Of these, ten men held only one belt over a single reign. But how many of these 'champs' would have been contenders (or champions) in a single belt era?

Make it know both here and in the poll.

Note: John Ruiz and Nikolay Valuev held only the WBA belt but did so over two different reigns. I have not considered WBA regular or 'lineal' title reigns.

Well lets look at who never fought for the "real" belt. And the ones who didn't are Roy Jones, Maskaev and Liakovich.

It is my opinion that Valuev is the best fighter to not fight for the lineal title in this era and that Chagaev v Valuev was the non Klitschko fight that was closest to being for the "real" belt.

Looking at that list, Sultan and Corrie are the two that really standout. Sultan had the skills to go into other era's and definitely win the heavyweight title. He was simply too small to compete with Klitschko but throw him and his southpaw sickness into an era against conventional fighters that never sparred let alone competed against a southpaw heavyweight and he would have a field day. Corrie Sanders had a rare combination of speed, power and size that is a scary matchup for anyone.
