Both are not games to be played by pussies. Hard work & dedication aka you will BUST your ass trying to learn.
MMA is probably harder and easier at the same time. It's harder since there are so many different ways to lose, but easier too because there are so many different ways to win.
The risk of serious brain trauma is much worse in boxing, you don't take 12 rounds of sustained punishment to the head in MMA. A broken leg is nothing compared to a TBI
Both are very tough... but I think it's harder to excel in boxing than in MMA. thats not to say that MMA doesn't require a lot of hard work and dedication. Also anybody who thinks that a boxer can transfer over to MMA and rise to the top without cross training and dedicating themselves doesn't know ****.
As regards skills, MMA is harder, because it requires more in way more things, even too much. But boxers are tougher than mmaers, because the talent pool is enormously higher, at least for now. When/if mma talent pool will be as high/higher, then probably the mma champion will be tougher than the boxing one. Till then, boxe is harder. Just my two cents.
Ive seen loads of Crocop KOs, and what? Just in the last few months in boxing we've seen 2 guys put in life threatening comas and poor Frankie Leal loses his life and you're trying to tell me MMA is more dangerous/brutal...you aint got a clue
All combat sports are their own thing and tough in their own way. In MMA, you have to be a jack of all trades, which means an ace at none of them. In boxing, you HAVE to be at the top of the boxing game to be champ. In wrestling, you HAVE to be at the top of that game to be champ...etc. etc. for all of the combat sports. What is interesting though, is how many of the top MMA guys work with boxing coaches to improve their striking game. The ones that are decent boxers are suddenly "world class strikers" compared with other MMA guys (Nick Diaz for example). MMA just hit it's 20th year, it is still very very young. If you look at the skills of the early guys compared to now, it is apples and oranges. So it is going to still be changing quite a bit as to what works and what doesn't etc. and new rule changes. But, none of them are "tougher" than the others. Just different.
they are both as hard as each other. It just depends where your strengths are. If you have average hands and amazing kicks, then maybe boxing isn't your sport.
In MMA you have more ways to lose but you also have more ways to win. So if you have the right plan you can win. In boxing if your opponent has better hands and boxing skill you will most likely lose.
