Szpilka is an okay fight for a first voluntary defense. Tarver, on the other hand, isn't worthy of a shot at Wilder. Jonathan Banks is a part-time boxer--and a part-time boxer who only showed up for the paycheck against Tarver.

I would be happy with someone like Mansour, Browne, Chagaev etc

the first two have power, I wouldn't count on either of those two happening... Especially the former, Mansour might just kill Wilder if he lands on him. Chagaev is a possibility, and he's fat and overthehill. Perfect opponent for him.

Quick to attack Klitschkos/defend Wilder as always. :good

To be fair, I don't expect some world class opponent for the first title defense, especially considering that Wilder still needs experience.

However, if he can only pick a voluntary opponent from the WBC rankings, then we might don't get a decent opponent.

Povetkin and Perez are obviously out of the question.

Fury is possible, but I wouldn't say probable. That would be a
    This content is protected
    fight actually.

Glazkov would be a decent opponent, although he is fighting Cunningham next in an IBF eliminator (correct?), so he's on the path for one of Wlad's titles.

    Lucas Browne would be a
    This content is protected
opponent. Wouldn't bet on that happening though.

    Joshua is obviously not happening.

Andy Ruiz would be a joke, Manuel Charr as well (actually he would have been be a decent opponent if he didn't lose to Povetkin recently).

Artur Szpilka would also be ridiculous. Eric Molina another joke.

Carlos Takam would be fine if he was coming off a good win instead of a loss.

    Arreola joke.

Solis-Thompson winner would actually be fine.

So, judging by the WBC rankings and considering the opponents who are actually available, Tyson Fury and Lucas Browne would be the best options. However, I don't think that he will be put against either of those two. Let's just hope it isn't someone like Szpilka, Arreola, Ruiz or Molina.

Bryant Jennings obviously would've had a better chance against Wilder than he has against Wladimir Klitschko...

he shouldn't be allowed to have a voluntary defense against anyone who isn't top 15 in the WBC rankings

    Welcome back!

Wilder ran for 12 rounds from sick dehydrated Stiverne :oops:
His next defense will be underwhelming for sure, someone like Molina, Charr, Ruiz Jr, Szpilka or Chagaev.

Eric Molina has no business in the top 15 of any organisation. His last three opponents were ranked 100th, 418th and 148th respectively on Boxrec and on his only step up he was KO1 by Arreola. His best win is Tony Grano ....

Brown paper bag of $50 bills winged its way to Sulaiman Jr for Molina's ranking, care of Wilder's promoter.

This guy is the likely first defense.

Sure, but not many remembers Wilder savagely called out Jennings in the past, but didn't expect him to answer.

When Jennings answered back, Wildest went into silent/good boy mode....

Yeah two pretty good heavyweights, the Mahone smashing was significant at the time.

He should go for Pulev and take him out.
