Which strategy would you advise Hatton to employ to beat Pacquiao if you trained him?

Conversely, which strategy would you advise Pacquiao to employ to maximise his chances of beating Hatton and minimise his chances of losing to Hatton, if you were his trainer?

Ricky boy just go hell for leather like you did with Kostya. Get inside, really rough him up, keep that chin down, and pound away to hell, wrestle him, use the elbows, bulldoze him onto the ropes, batter the body and arms, break him down like you did to Tszyu. You aint gonna outspeed this guy. You aint gonna outbox this guy. But you can overpower him and break him down inside.

Ricky went hell for leather to get inside Tszyu. He took some monster shots on the way in but NOTHING was gonna stop Ricjy that night. Thats the only way i can see Ricky win this fight. Sadly i dont think Ricky has it in him to be able to do that anymore. But maybe, just maybe, he can pull it off for one last time. After all, is is for the P4P Championship of the World ==O

Hatton's only chance is to play real dirty. The downside however is that it will surely make Manny more fierce.

This fight will be brief but brutal.

Just the usual and employ the tips Floyd Sr will have taught him. Use the jab a little more when coming inside, move your head a bit more to try and make Pac miss, but just don't give him any room. Pressure, pressure, pressure, get him on the inside where your physical strength will tell, bully him around the ring and bang the body all night long.

I'd have him jab, jab, and jab some more as he comes in. Pacquiao sometimes freezes on the jab and has had problems with it. Just a accurate jab, jab, right-hand, to work inside and then beat the hell out of Pac's body when he gets inside. The jab should be varied between hitting the body and the head.

A lead right-hand would be a simple but damaging punch as well. Let Pacquiao launch the left hand, take a half-step back, then as Pacquiao gets off-balance as he does on that punch at times, lead in with a stiff right hand then work the body.

Basically I would just have him work on these basic moves to get inside and do damage. I'd want him jabbing the entire fight. Pacquiao will freeze like a deer in the head lights with a stiff jab in his face which would make it easier to get inside for Hatton without taking as many punches in return.

I would tell him to hold on opposite side of the referee every time he's inside and hook to the body with the other hand.

I doubt it would work because I suspect Hatton will revert back to his old ways when the punches start flying though, but it would help if he did these things, at least improve the jab, and use it frequently to get inside. He'd need to work on cutting the ring off because he has a lot of trouble with lateral movement and I'm sure Pacquiao will be using plenty of it. Hatton also squares up all the time when he moves in and that is bad news. I would try to work on that with him as well. Maybe it would provide some results. You would not want to try to make too many changes, just do basic things to increase the effectiveness of his aggression.

Watch out 4 Pacmans left hand. Feint & keep head moving. Put Pac under intelligent pressure. Catch Pac as he dives in. Grab him & work on the inside(bend rules).
