Yeah, I think a lot would hinge on the ref and how much clinching he'd let Fury get away with. A lenient ref and Fury might wear Joe out that way, a more stringent ref and Frazier might be hooking Fury's ribs all night.

even as a huge Frazier fan I think it’s not difficult to see the threat that Fury would pose to Frazier. Such a threat that I figure Fury has to be the favorite. Joe is going to be hard pressed to get the fight inside where he needs it to be in order to operate at his desired range. The most likely to me scenario is that he will take a lot of punishment to get there if he can consistently get there at all is a huge puzzle. I would cheer for Joe but I am realistic enough to know that he is likely at a decided disadvantage and one Fury is good enough to maintain. I would be surprised if Joe won this one. Likewise I did not vote in the poll either.

Ali, Louis, and Fury would be very problematic for Frazier

Holmes as well but I think he has a better chance against Holmes than the others

And Ali was not prime in '71 .... That's like saying post prison Tyson was "prime" in '95

Ali was close to prime though and still the best in the world aside from Frazier ...

Jimmy Young for sure. If he bested Ali, Lyle, Foreman, then would probably outpoint Joe. The only problem was that Jimmy di not have much a punch.

Larry Holmes for sure. I can just imagine him catching him straight in. Joe would be in big trouble

I cannot think of a style ever at heavyweight that Frazier would thrive on more than Jimmy Young.

Young? He's the weakest link on the list.

that's irrelevent. Jimmy actually fought during Frazier's time and since he defeated most, if not all of the top fighters in that era, including Ali, he should be favored over Joe also

Frazier has some things that may give Louis problems. The bob and weave coming in low to the body, precise hooks over and under. I believe he could possibly take some of Louis's leverage away. Get him back on his heels and take away the Brown Bombe's punching room. This one could go either way

Joe had some trouble with fighters who fought out of a semi crouch like Godoy, Even the bartender put Louis down.

But why??? Jimmy beat bigger punchers than Frazier himself. Foreman said Lyle hit him the hardest, and from what I saw George do with Joe, George outranks Joe in more ways than one. Jimmy whipped both of them so he should be favored over Joe

and I think Larry would stop Joe dead in his tracks with his right cross. Joe would not be able to take 15 rounds of that!

No he didn't beat Ali. Barely throwing any punches, landing a few counters & ducking in between the ropes repeatedly doesn't win you the fight. He made Ali look bad the whole fight, but making some look bad doesn't mean you won the fight. Regarding Frazier, if you actually watch his fights, you'll notice he never had any issues with slick, defensive technical boxers - & Young would be no different.

I think Lennox Lewis would have the best formula to beat a fighter the caliber of Joe Frazier. Lewis was a technical, patient thinking fighter.

Jimmy barely handled the pressure Ken Norton brought, and Joe ate up out boxers in a way which made Norton wince. Also, Young's success came as much from the time he fought as it did his abilities as a fighter. He'd hardly be talked about if he fought Foreman, Norton and Ali in the early 70s instead of the mid-late.

    FOTC Joe smashes Young up.

Consider that Frazier is a totally different style of fighter than those other guys. Not sure why Lyle is significant. Young did beat Ali who was no longer a great fighter. He was old and fat. Jimmy should have gotten the title but this had nothing to do with how Young would cope with a Prime Joe Frazier, who would be cutting down the ring with ease. Torturing the body of Young. Frazier would have a field day. Young doesnt have the firepower.

Young dont have the firepower but the way he coped with those who did, and bested the
He may not have the firepower but seeing the manner in which he with all the top competitors, leaves me with little reason to think he wouldnt be able to handle Frazier also
