Other It's an actual phrase that should be abolished not just a term - "To be the champ you have to BEAT the champ" Every fight should be judged with neutrality - regardless of who is the champion. If fighter A holds or doesnt hold the belt, that should not affect the scoring. The belt does not do any of the boxing in the ring so that should not factor into scoring. This is a dumb quote that dumb people came up with.
Quitter. Easily the worst of them. Especially when most people who use the word are people who have never felt punches from another a pro, let alone dedicated their lives to a craft. Definitely the worst. Everything else I could care less about. Those come with the culture of boxing. But dont call someone a quitter when all you do is sit on your ass and watch. it's asinine and imbecilic
I wouldnt want to abolish any of them. My problem isnt with the words, but the fighters portrayed as them. For instance...... A guy like Mike Sheppard......21(9)-16(12)-1 http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=19028&cat=boxer Some look at his record and think he's a bum.....but a closer look will show that he's really not, but more of a journeyman. But if Shep fought 6X this yr vs the likes J*stin Novaria, he'd be 27-16-1 by the end of the yr. So is Shep a bum, or a bum slayer, a can, or a can crusher. His problem aint getting wins, it's beating other local elites, solid journeyman, and stars. But when he steps in with a TRUE CAN or a BUM/CABBIE/ETC......he almost always victorious. Ive heard Leapei called a bum or a can. But in reality, he's got a win that's better than ANYTHING 2 time world title challenger Vaugn Bean ever got into the ring with. Is Bean a bum???? Does that make Holyfield and Moorer....can crushers???? Haterz Inc throws these words around when trying to discredit a fighter they dislike. It's almost always racially motivated, and that's why I don't like the current modern usage of the word. In 1950, it was appropriate to reference Joe Louis title run as "the bum fo the month club". Because he was literally fighting dock workers and cabbies who had little to no experience. If Wlad was to fight 190lb Johnnie Davis 5-21(19), or Toney Musto 199lb 37-30, or even 197lb 26-17(9) Leon Spinks......I can't even imagine what boxing would become.....a laughing stock really.....a f/n laughing stock. Imagine that next w/e Olympic SHW Gold Medalist Anthony Joshua will be 5(5)-0 and by Wlad's next defense, Joshua will likely be 6(6)-0......imagine for a second that Wlad signs to fight Joshua, and somehow loses.:yep:yep:yep
Pacquiao and ATG being used in the same sentence should be abolished. steroid cheats like pac should have their shitty accomplishments removed
Yeah, that is one of the most ridiculous. Totally unprovable, and usually nothing more than a device used by some fanboy to deny the fragility of his favorite fighter's mandible.
