I ask this as I'm getting sick and tired of Hatton lunatics using this excuse and claiming he's only made for 140.
The same people who claim he's a p4p fighter at 140 are saying he is far less effective at 147.
    I don't think that's the case.

so which supposedly elite fighters 'lost it' in their first jump up in weight class?

I do not think Cotto can go up in weight, though time may prove me wrong.
Mayweather has proven himself as a weight climber and dropper, but for those who say Pavlik next are as insane as the Pacman nuthuggers.
Pacman will loose a lot of power as he goes up but if he becomes well rounded stands a chance up until 140.
If Mosley sticks around he should go back to 154 and DLH should stay there as well.
Williams will make a very natural light welterweight and though DLH will be retired I think a fight between them both at 154 would be interesting.
Cintron will do well at 154 as well but will probably have another Ko loss (Margarito, hint hint) before he does so.

Sorry, didn't read the last line of the thread before posting. :patsch

In answer to your question, DLH TOTALITY lost it at 160. Did not look good at all, and like Hatton, after a KO, moved back down to where he felt comfortable.

go on name some then, name some guys who transformed in their FIRST jump up in weight....examples like DLH at 160 clearly don't count here.
Prove me wrong. And it wasn't just the fact he got stopped by Mayweather....there was the Collazo fight at 147 as well.

Hatton looked terrible vs. Collazo, plus vs. Void Mayweather, He had to fight the referee. Taking a point away for hitting a ring rope, while Peter hits behind that head all the time and gets away with it.

Shane Mosley just proved he was not as good going "down" in weight. Trinidad, of course, the terror of welterweight, did not look good going up. He looked good against Joppy but DLH looked good against Castillejo. Then next two fights for both fighters told the tale. Who else? Julio Cesar Chavez was not so good when he went up in weight. Whitaker slowed down when he went up. Geez, endless. Duran as well. Mayorga just said he was going down in weight as he felt he lost a lot of power against Vargas.

Pavlik could move up in weight in the future. As of now he can continue fighting in middleweight well improving his skills, then fight in the higher weight classes later on.

jose napoles.great welterweight but stopped badly by monzon, although there was no disgrace in that.there again the jump was from welter straight to middle no junior title.a big step.as long as they're regarded as cleaning out their own division,i don't think it demeans a fighter who doesn't fight in the higher weight division or is beaten when moving up,especially against great fighters.
