we know a good trainer makes a huge difference, which fighter from the past (or even present) do you think would have meshed well with which trainer?

IMO Nigel Benn and Freddie roach would have been a deadly combination!

imagine benns ruthless aggression and roaches craftsmanship!

or how about amir khan and manny steward? wlad/lewis 2!

Why would a trainer help a trainer? Erm maybe jeff should have learnt from roger and floyd more becasue his career has been a lot worse than them.

Floyd Sr is a very overrated trainer IMO.

On topic..... Tommy Brooks and Lennox Lewis would have been a great pairing :yep

brooks is one of the best trainers out there, imo cotto should have hired him.

on another note i never thought james toney and freddie roach would have worked out but toney had a great run under roach, looked sharper and roach somehow managed to motivate him (well according to him).

I think Cotto is fine with Steward.

Lewis was to be honest, Brooks might have retained a bit of an edge to his boxing though..... to stop guys like Tua rather than go the full 12.

Both are pretty calm characters and suit Lewis well....

I like Richardson as well - a really smart planner, up there with the best.

Talkers are the best, you don't need a shouter and screamer IMO.

I always wonder what might have been had a 7 year old Naseem Hamed walked into Freddie Roach's gym, rather than Ingles.

i dont think anyone could have helped naseem IMO, the prince would always have been the prince, roach might have had him training harder and more focused because he doesn't deal with slackers but thats just it.

I'm not sure. I'm just not a fan of the Ingle style. There's a reason why the orthodox style developed. And it's not cause it's better to swtich stance every 30 seconds and throw looping punches from bizarre angles.

It worked for Naz for a long time, and he'd have been an unorthodox fighter whatever but I think If someone had grounded him properly early on in a more orthodox style he;d have had longer lasting success as his reflexes started to slow.

Roach would have catapulted Hamed into the Atlantic.

Nobody would put up with the sort of **** Ingle put up with...... money or not.
