Basilio certainly hated Robinson, but I don't know really how SRR felt about it.

This is the one where it definitely was mutual.

Other rivalries such as Ali-Frazier, Hagler-Leonard and Benn-Eubank it was only one of each pair that felt a genuine animosity.

Duran and the Viruet brothers deserve a mention.

Short lived though it was, hard to leave out Benny Paret vs Emile Griffin.

    Good post as always,Bokaj.

Even Frazier's animosity toward Ali seemed very much a hot and cold affair, though. I don't doubt it was genuine but I've thought for many years that if everything else was fine in Joe's world, then Ali was also fine with him. If Joe was pissed off with the world, however, then it was Ali who was the focal point of his bitterness. Frazier was very much the type who was what you saw was what you'd get for much of the time. Since the 1970s he was quoted as complimenting Muhammad as often as he was found to be insulting him. And there were occasions that the two were together such as Ali being featured on 'This Is Your Life' Frazier came on there hugging him and sayjng humouress and nice things about him. Smokin' Joe was n't a diplomatic type. If he said those things to/about Muhammad, then I'm convinced he meant them at the time he said them just as he did when he came out with the negative stuff.

did'nt Joe Erskine sleep with Billy Walker's wife, or was it the other way around?

I dare say there was bad blood there.

Truth be told I don’t think Chris genuinely hated anyone but himself following what proceeded with Nunn-

Absolutely pal. Benn couldn't stand the sight of Chris, would have faced him multiple times in the ring given a chance, lol.

That was Monroe Brooks. And yeah, that was a lot of bad temper in their bout. The first I thought of on this subject was Benn-Eubank, but I will also add in the Pazienza-Haugen triad was also pock-marked with a lot of animosity. Chavez-Haugen too, but that was more on the part of Haugen just really going out of his way to pi** off Chavez. I don't think Haugen cared one way or another, but he wanted to rattle his cage. It worked too, just not in a good way for Haugen.

Eubank didn’t even dislike Benn. If anything he liked him.

Robinson didn't care for Basillio because he saw him as an IBC house fighter. A puppet of Jim Norris.

    Leonard-Tendler
    Ali-Terrell
Louis-Galento (Joe said Galento was the only opponent he truly hated)
Mayorga-everyone but especially Oscar and Vargas

Also by the time Floyd and Pac fought, there was a lot of bad blood and genuine resentment over the drug testing issue, you could tell in the ring.

Did he? I know he had respect for him, Benn gave him the fights of his life, especially the first.
