Which upset that a journeyman managed to pull off were you most stoked about?

NOT because of who the higher-regarded fighter he beat was, but because of who the journeyman himself was?

Recently for me it was Joe Lauzon humiliating Melvin Guillard. That would have been a very solid and noteworthy victory for any fighter, but I was very happy for Lauzon because I enjoy his fighting style and the way he presents himself. I didn't expect him to see too much success against a Guillard who was on a hot streak, but Lauzon had a good moment in the spotlight there, and IMO he well deserved it.

Back on topic, I think GSP-Serra has to be the biggest upset of all time, closely followed by Fedor-Werdum, Randleman-Mirko by kod no less and BJ-Hughes when Matt looked unbeatable

Fedor had been on the slide for a while - Rogers nearly finished him, as did Hong Man Choi. Arlovski was dominating him up til that famous haymaker

But sure, i cant think of a bigger upset than Serra GSP. The repercussions of that fight have been huge too - Georges went from a fan friendly monster into a Jackson cloned sedative :-(

I think with hindsight, the Werdum fight has faded a little bit. But in terms of Werdum's lack of striking and Fedor's fight with Nog, if you put it in context of the time it happened it's deservedly right up there in terms of shock

9 out of 10 people thought Fedor would do a JDS on Fabricio, the other 1/10 who picked him were his parents and family

Still a huge upset, despite Fedor's slide

Yeah I know BJ is no Journeyman, was more of an honourable mention. A LW beating a PRIME atg WW is nothing to scoff at

Randleman had lost his previous 2 going into the Cro Cop fight and went 2-9 after it.

Werdum is a decent top 10 HW but will never win a title

And Matt Serra's best win is against the definitive journeymen Chris Lytle & Yves Edwards, and only got his shot as a result of TUF. Same as Lauzon getting the Pulver fight

Kinda defines journeymen if you ask me

Well considering Joe has wins over two former Champs and his resume shits all over Melvins, that's EXACTLY what you have done in the OP. Mel was on a good run, but he's more of a Journeyman than Joe

Stick to the Brock threads Haggis
