...in catapulting the under-dog's career/legacy ? E.g. Norton over ALi, Ward over Kessler (still in progress), Clay over Liston, Schmeling over Louis...
James J Corbett over John L Sullivan; it help drag the sport into the 20th Century. For the modern era, I would say Wepner stepping on Ali's foot, which created arguably the greatest fictional sports character in Film history.
3 and 4 had good soundtracks, and iconically camp brilliance. 6, was a pretty solid effort IMO, I liked it.
Schmelin over Louis. It was the win out of this group over a prime opponent, no excuses which elevated him to a Top 20 all time position.
Clay over Liston, and Ali over Foreman Pacquiao over Barrera Leonard over Hagler Foreman over Moorer Hopkins over Pavlik Dempsey over Willard
Of these choices I'd go with Norton over ALi. Had he not beaten Ali Norton would have been grouped with Quary, Lyle, Young and Ellis. Not a bad group to be a part of. However Norton's win over Ali puts him ahead of that group. Ward might be young but he's a better boxer than Kessler. Clay (Ali) would have probbly gotten another shot at the heavyweight championship. I think he would keepet quiet about his membership in the Nation of Islam intell after he became the champion. Schmeling's win over Louis is no dobut a great win and is my second choice here. However Schmeling had already ben the heavyweight champion, and the method that Louis won the rematch chop his legacy down a bit.
