This was discussed on the DLH vs. Tito thread.

    When was Vargas better?

    is this a serious question?

i think the vargas that lost to tito would have fought better against DLH. not saying he'd win though.

also the roids vargas took, i read that hurt his perfromance. i dont know how true that might be. the roids were more towards building muscle.

Are you kidding me? The vargas that fought Tito was a very good fighter with a great future, until he made the most idiotic error he could've made: go against an ATG in his prime. If Vargas would've waited 1 or 2 years the story could've been different. Like BHops said, "putting Vargas against Tito was like feeding steak to a baby".

Both versions of Vargas were good, but the Tito version was better. I believe that version would have KO'd DLH.

The DLH version didn't fight as ferociously though - it was quite apparant that he wasn't as confident in the effect of his power shots.

Hail Vargas - a boxing tragedy - you will be sorely missed.

  10. It was about equal, he was roided up against Oscar was was still KO'D AGAINST Tito he was really beat down hard, both fights took a lot out of him..

I'm surprised that most people vote believing the Vargas who fought Trinidad was better; I disagree. If not equal, I'd lean towards the boxer-puncher who fought De La Hoya.

Though not as ferocious, he was a better boxer, more patient, and alot more accurate. When he fought Trinidad, he's wasn't quite as experienced.

This must be a joke ... the vargas that fought tito was the best ever ... he gave tito all he got until his demise in the 12th round ... every since then he's been getting knocked in earlier rounds and gone the distance with Mayorga and true credit to his diminished skills.

All the Vargas that fought DLH do was come on early and aggressively ... the one that fought Tito was knocked down 4 times and stopped in the 12th.

after than he had back problems, steriod problems, eating disorder, weight issues.

there was no bull**** when he fought title ... he was an undefeated champion at the top of his game.

Vargas was never the same again after that Trinidad fight.....he still had a lot to offer against Oscar but he was far better against Trinidad.
