Which version of "MMA" has the least rules ?

Which one is most authentic ie. most closely resembles a REAL fight ?

I dont know much about MMA at all, but I often think some MMA fans seem to forget the significance of it being a sport and not really a "martial" fight (ie. War, a serious fight to the death etc.). I mean, it's not truly a test of real martial arts because it has rules and stuff, it's not really martial arts, it's fighting for sport, but the line between the two can be narrowed I guess.

I've heard some MMA fans argue that "traditional" martial artists are crap compared to MMA stars, but that ignores the fact that traditional martial arts were actually killing people in REAL WAR COMBAT hundreds of years ago. Some of these Kung Fu guys might actually be deadly in real fights.
Then again, I suppose martial arts became obsolete when guns and grenades came about, and now there's only the "fake" sporting arena for "martial artists" to look forward to competing in. Streetfighting's basically become gunfighting in most parts of the world now too.

So, where does MMA most closely resemble a real test of the martial arts ? Which one is the hardest, least rules, least holds barred ?
Is it Pride ? Shootfighting ?

They still have authentic Vale Tudo fights in Brazil i think.
There was an organization called "Rio Heroes" that was running Vale Tudo rules.. but i think they just got shut down.

In most modern big name MMA promotions its a rule tradeoff. UFC(well.. actually all sanctioned north american events) allows elbows.. but they don't allowed knee's to the head of a downed opponent, stomps of a downed opponent, or soccer kicks to the head of a downed opponent.

Pride on the other hand allowed knee/stomps/soccerkicks to a downed opponent.. but wouldnt allow elbows.

I think the orgs coming up in japan right now arent allowing soccerkicks and stomps.. but im not sure of that.

Vale Tudo, plenty of competitions in the past, no "kung fu guys" accomplishing ****, they just get beat more brutally.

    Rio Heros now, same thing.

Many martial arts you say "killed" people were based on weapon technique. Samurai's etc... Kung Fu has many cheap "techniques" if remember correctly i.e eye gouging, fish hooking etc. Those are not techniques, those are just cheap moves.

MMA fighters are THE most well rounded combat fighters there are today. It's that simple. If 2 men were on a plane, alone, one had MMA training the other one had w/e training. MMA training will always have an advantage because he trains what WORKS in real fighting. The main sports are: boxing, BJJ/Sambo, Thai Boxing/Kick Boxing, wrestling. If you train those sports you are well rounded in every area where a combat could go without any foreign objects.

Back in ancient Greece where olympics were held there WAS MMA. It WAS the MOST popular sport at the time. It was called pankration. Read on wiki what it is. Very often the fights went to the death and the champions were considered THE champions of olympics. Those guys were regarded much higher than the champion of any other sport. Rightly so.

Today, I'm not sure what orgs. have least rules but I say it all evens out. Pride didn't have elbows allowed, UFC didn't have knees or kicks to the head on the ground allowed. Back in the day when I started gettin interested in MMA I watched some IVC(I think) which is a vale tudo org. It was everything allowed except some cheap moves like eye gouging and fish hooking plus some other rules. I'm pretty sure you COULD strike to the balls too(anyone confirm this?).

UFC early years allowed hair pulling and shots to the groin.

actually its pankration, pancreas is an internal organ... but the rest is pretty much dead on, although it still boils down more to the 2 individuals fighting than their overall styles

As stated above, only the Vale Tudo fights in Brazil still allow everything but biting and eye gouging. Some call it cheap, I call it smart. To hell with fighting for points - fighting for survival calls for winning by any means necessary. You think I want to grapple a big guy like Scurlaruntings? Hell no! I'll poke him in his eye, kick his balls, stomp his ankle and THEN choke him out before I walk home. You don't want a strong guy like that getting near you. Period. No disrespect meant in using you as an example, scurlaruntings, but it seems apropos based on your scary ass avatar.
