no he wasnt, i still got my bookie stub from MGM Pacquiao -125 Morales +150 +200 to go the distance I lost $100 because it did go the distance :|
i'm picking the mab victory all the way man! pac-em was a close fight. mab-naz was a schooling. naz also got punked when he got his faca rammed in the corner
as for the thread question i'll go with the barrerra vs hamed coz it destroyed the "invincibility' myth of hamed going on to this fight: not to mention his arrogant showboarding and cockiness, that's why some wants to see him put off ( including me) and most dont expect him to be put off because of his "invincible" aura.(hamed being a 4-1 favorite)
on the em-pac fight there are still certain questions to the fight to make it a good impressive win for em :1)the headbutt of pac 2) the glove issue 3) em almost being knocked down on the last round after his machismo show-off changing to southpaw and brawling with pac. against the advice of his corner (well if that's a plus for you, not for me coz he almost got Knocked down coz of that thus a theory of ' if there was another rounsd like a 13th round after he will get KTFO by manny).
the only questions about the EM win over pac are being raised by pac nuthuggers the only thing a agree with in that entire post was the cut, i also think it was from a headbutt. the two other points were bullcrap. the gloves may have, i repeat, may have diminished pac's power a little but it he should still have won the fight even with those winning gloves if he defended well, which he didn't. gloves don't diminish speed and defensive ability. and the freaking 13th round ko is just plain stupid. there was no 13th round!!!! and saying that em would have been ko'd in the 13th round is like saying that pac should have won the jmm fight is there were no 2nd to 12th rounds. or saying that EM would have beaten pac in their 2nd fight if he didn't get ko'd in the 10th. just stupid.
The fact that morales got hurt in the 12th round, in my opinion, is a positive thing for him because it shows by using his far superior skills he avoided Pacman's dangerous offense for the previous 11 rounds. And he only got hurt because he CHOSE to trade, not because he had to. And even when he traded, he didn't go down. Barrera fought smart for 12 full rounds straight, never once going into the deep end with Naz like Morales did with Pac, and Morales had seen what Pac did to Barrera.
Great thread...This is boxing talk straight up.For me tho', Call me sentimental, but I say MAB's schooling of Hamed takes the biscuit.Albeit a small biscuit.Hamed and Pac similarities start and end with the fact that they are both lefties with power. As pure fighters,Hamed was a different species alltogether...because of his awkwardness, the unothordoxy of style, incredible punching angles...and I say,for a single shot,Hamed is the harder puncher IMO...Hamed represented a higher risk IMO than Manny.Manny's no mystery...the JMM fight proved just that.Whereas with the Prince you did'nt know what was gonna happen. The sustained masterclass MAB put on him,has to be one of the best in boxing history.Hamed,in truth, never got off the blocks.Marco never allowed him...that left hook to the gut is probably one of the best ever. Manny's stock...even after the defeat by Morales....went up.Because, despite,Morales winning clearly,it was a back-and-forth war that at some stage in the fight, could have gone either way.MAB..on the other hand...pitched a damn near shut-out on Hamed. He damn near KO'd him. I became all-time fan of Marco after that night. Not because I hated Nas that much...but because I can't remember,in recent history...of a fighter going in with so much against him..and to pull out a perfomanmce like that. The truth might be,both wins a evenly matched...but I lean towards MAB by a hair. Great thread.
still there are issues like the cut caused by the headbutt which you yourself admit that's why i dont give much kudos to that victory by em.
