    Hi All

    Wonder if anyone can help???

Can anyone tell me which visa I need to apply for from US immigration to allow me to go to Las Vegas and train in a gym there for periods of 6 months (or ideally 12 months) at a time

I understand that I can go there on a 3 month stay using the Visa Waiver ESTA system but would like to avoid having to come back every three months if at all possible.

I will not be fighting there but merely training in one of the gyms so that I then decide if its worth trying to pursue a boxing career at a later date.

Any advice would be gratefully received

Not to be a ***** but why are you posting this on a boxing training forum? Surely you'd be better off getting in contact with the body that supplies what you're after.

Maybe (just maybe) because I am an amateur boxer who wants to go to Las vegas and train ina agym there for 12 months before deciding to turn professional.

I just figure if I can cut the mustard there then I should be able to make an informed decision about whether or not I am wasting my time in even thinking or dreaming of realizing my aspirations of being able to make it ina very competitive tough sport

Training at a slight altitude in excessive heat for a year under a top boxing coach should be able to tell me if I have even the remotest chance of being able to earn a living from a sport I love.

I was just hoping someone on here who had been to America or Vegas to train for an extended period of time would have some advice on how they managed to get a Visa and which ne to enable them to spend long periods of time in America to train

The boxing scene in Australia is very limited and especially where I am from and its hard for me to even get sparring partners of any note. Hence I have to go abroad and Vegas seemed the obvious choice.

TBH I just spent 3 months over there training already and want to go back for a longer period to improve my condition and technique (contrary to what most people think amateur styles and pro styles are two completely different animals).

I contacted an immigration Visa specialist who told me (and charged me) for advice and suggested I go for a B1 Visa but this was NOT the correct one and I wad duly declined on that one.

Hence it would be nice if someone with some knowledge of having been to USA could advise of how I can achieve a long term stay in order to train there.

I cannot apply for a P visa as I am not yet a professional sportsman and I don't want to fall foul of US Visa and immigration laws as it could prove problematic in future if I need to fight there.

    Hence my question.

so anybody out there ever experienced a similar problem or situation?

If you come here illegally then Hillary Clinton will make you a legal citizen if she wins.

And Donald Trump will deport or shoot me as an enemy of the state....

Fortunately I just want to visit America for up to a year as with those two candidates for President I certainly wouldnt want to live there on a permanent basis.

How can you possibly have two such loathsome candidates to choose from?????

    Only in America :-(

Trump plans on deporting only those who are committing crimes which is actually a large issue here. Coyotes (who work for cartels) make money off of transporting Illegals and drugs across the border. Those that don't commit crimes will be forced to pay a fine for the unpaid back taxes.
