Which was the better win, Hopkins vs Pavlik or Calzaghe vs Lacy

It was definitely Pavlik.

Lacy was a hype while Pavlik is the man who beat the man who beat the man.

 

BHOP would have destroyed Kessler even worst than Ward did. :yep

 

Ward is just a mini-subset of Hopkins and look what happened to the crew cut Viking. :yep

 

Kessler was slightly past it when ward fought him

 

Pavlik was a better boxer but was dragged up to LHW while he was a MW.

So I'd say Slappy Joe beating Lacy

 

Calzaghe Lacy was a unification at super middle


Pavlik has never fought at lt heavy so there you go.

 

Calzaghe over Lacy was better.

Lacy was fighting at his best weight. Pavlik was moving up in weight. B-Hop was very likely on PEDs.

both Joe and Jeff were the same weight. Pavlik was 10lbs above his natural weight.

and didn't Pavlik have something wrong with him as well?

it was also a better performance from Joe than it was from Bernard. Bernard was great, but Joe was really out of this world. say what you want about Joe, but you can't deny the performance he put on that night.

most expected Lacy to blow Joe away in the early rounds. i'm sure they got the biggest shock ever, as well as being completely embarrassed.

 

The Pavlik fight was not at 175. It was a catchweight of 170. And Pavlik had fought at 166 against Taylor. I see your point but Hopkins was also coming off a loss against Calzaghe and many thought he was done at 43. He was a 3/1 underdog and some thought he would get koed. And Pavlik was perceived as a monster at the time, having gone through Miranda and Taylor. His schooling was shocking.

Both are great wins. I give the slight nod to Hopkins.

Oh boy it didn't look good for Calzaghe according to most, old, bad hands, lost a step maybe? Lacy hitting his form, and most of all hitting his opponents

It was a 170lbs catchweight and Hopkins was a huge underdog going in against Pavlik. As far as I remember Calzaghe vs Lacy's odds were almost even a week before the fight.
