Both fights were closer than the official cards showed. Parker was far more proven than Ortiz with a better resume and a Champ in his own right. Better stamina and far more durable and obviously younger. Ortiz has a better overall skillset, had far better coaching and was more prepared for his opponent. Both home fighters got preferencial treatment from the ref and the judges. Overall.... Wilder made for the FAR MORE EXCITING FIGHT. Joshua got a nominally better win
Joshua. If you were to ask which was the better fight then Wilder Ortiz, by some distance, but you didnt. Parker was a young, fit, unbeaten world champion who had come in in the best shape of his life, with his arms working properly and was supposed to give Joshua loads of problems even if he didnt beat him. None of that happened. Joshua controlled the fight (just about but he did) behind an improved jab. Ortiz was old, older than he claims, has heart trouble or blood pressure trouble and was not a world champion, nor has he ever been one. He was supposed to give Wilder a few problems and he gave Wilder lots of problems and Wilder was very lucky to make it out of the 7th. Not a tough choice as far as im concerned.
I think Wilder's win was more important to his legacy, but overall both fights are a wash. Wilder's fight legitimizes him to a greater degree.
Yes but not well prepared. Ortiz game plan to pressure Wilder off the front foot had him winning most of the rds before his chin let him down. Parker's plan to outbox the taller less durable Joshua with his shorter arms was absurd and his team made NOTHING off Luigi's interference during the fight. Roach, Mayweather, Manny(RIP), Virgil, Abel etc etc would have been calling out Luigi's interference between every Rd. Garcia and Teddy would have been on the apron screaming at him during every illegal break.
Another guy arguing that Wilder's win is better because his resume is worse. It doesn't work like that.
But Ortiz's plan isn't effective against a decent jab. e.g. Lewis v Tua. Wilder is meant to have the best jab in the division, but it wasn't present against Ortiz.
You said that Wilder's win was more important to his 'legacy'....how? Wilder beat an undefeated challenger Joshua beat an undefeated champion
Wilder was getting his ass kicked and showed 0 boxing ability intill he landed his power TYSON FURY RULES
