Which stands out for you as the most impressive performance in winning a heavy weight belt?
This can apply to lineal or alphabet soup belt.
My personal favourite has to holmes v Norton. Probably one of the most two sided heavy weight title fight in history where the title changed hands. Was a classic and crowned a ATG.

For me it's Mike Tyson's demolition of Trevor Berbick in 1986. History is made as Tyson becomes the youngest heavyweight champion.

Other similar coronations where the championship was brutally taken by the challenger include George Foreman against Joe Frazier and Jack Dempsey against Jess Willard but Tyson gets my vote.

Nod goes to Foreman/Frazier - big odds against untested Foreman with the undefeated guy who beat Ali. Only drawback was having to listen to Cosell (who predicted a Foreman victory) warble afterwards, "Didn't I tell ya? Didn't I?"

Runner up: Ali (Clay) vs Liston I - again, big odds against an untested contender vs a guy who was seen as unstoppable.

Can remember the tyson one like yesterday Ken. The build up to it, the footage of tyson s ko's and his story up to then. Can recall one of the papers making a lot of the the fact berbick was the last person to fight ali. And that ko of berbick!! Never seen a fighter react like that. Good picks.

Foreman v frazier. Still so impressive after all these years. Foreman looks unbeatable.

Also , not sure it's true or not but coincidentally the date Nov. 22nd , that Tyson won the title on, was also memorable in that it was the same day and month back in the 1960s that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on.

Nope, can be regaining title. One of the best is Patterson v ingo 2. That hook that Floyd got him with that put him out.. Perfection.

I think one of the most underrated is Ali's win over Liston.
All you here about in retrospect is Liston's shortcomings, but Ali was an overwhelming underdog and Liston considered a monster.
In his previous fight Ali had been floored by Henry Cooper and some feared for his safety, yet he produced a remarkably disciplined performance for his age and experience.
    To me it gets overlooked.
