Which welterweight today would have the best chance of beating Tommy Hearns?

I think Spence if he works the body but I expect Hearns to win a decision. I can't see anyone in the current crop beating Hearns at 147.

Totally agree with ya. From memory only 1 fighter beat Hearns at welter and that was Leonard

the skill gap from the 80’s is too much, i dont see anybody active right now beating leonard, duran, hagler or hearns at any weight they fought unless they were at the end of the careers and old.

Spence. Only one with the size to compete with tommy. Still loses, though.

All of them would have a pretty good chance being he's like 65 and would likely die in the weight making process.

None, not even close. People sleep on Tommy because he fought in a different era. He fought in a better era against better opponents. Hearns would beat Crawford, Spence and any top Welter. Boxing is an unpredictable sport and guys can sometimes have off nights or fight the wrong kind of fight. Hearns did this against Hagler, he tried to go toe to toe, punch for punch and try to beat Hagler at his own game. No one beats Hagler in that kind of fight, at least not at MW. Hearns was a great puncher, excellent boxer and he had killer instinct. I can’t think of anyone in modern boxing who compares to Tommy. And he was long, at WW. One of the best, even though he has some famous losses on his record. He was special.

Spence has the best chance but he'd still get his ass whooped

If Hearns fought at 147 today under modern weigh-in rules, it is very difficult to imagine him losing to anyone out there today.

Spence probably has the best chance, but it wouldn't happen. There isn't a fighter since the four kings era ended that I would favor over Hearns at welterweight.

In a few years, I think I could confidently pick Ennis

No one, Crawford probably has the best puncher's chance. I think Hearns' body punching would be an enormous problem for Spence.

Later career Hearns vs Canelo would be interesting I think.
