Gomez. Not by a great deal, but clear enough.

Benitez . Cleaner fighter as far as i currently know which is not much about him , and was drained against Leonard when Leonard stopped him . Went d distance with Hearns , Duran and Palomino and actually outpointed d latter 2 .
Hearns outdid him by far vs both Duran and Bruce Curry as well as outpointed him in person , and did only slightly worse vs Leonard but i believe Hearns was more drained than Benitez was against Leonard so Hearns does rank higher , and p4p i m not high on either Hearns , Leonard , Hagler or Benitez . Over time i may rate Duran lower than i do now , may even go as far as ranking him below Griffith :yep .
Neither man in my top 90 at least and neither makes d top 70 of d last 40 years .

Benitez. Gomez didn't universally prove his greatness until Pintor. El Radar dethroned two IBHOFers, successfully defended against a P4P ATG, and won his third championship in devastating fashion over a highly credible defender in Hope. Zarate is huge for Gomez, but El Cholo, Pambele, Palomino and Hope trump Zarate and Pintor in my book.

I second that. Gomez's win over Maurice Hope is underated. I love the science of boxing but sometimes I struggle to watch Benetiz, he could be so unspectaculor.

    Wilfredo Gomez,,,,,,,

    Clearly a more impressive resume.

Take into consideration his amateur career as well.
