Which win do you think was greater???

Floyd Mayweathers Jr's 18th fight and win against Genaro Hernandez
    or
Anthony Joshuas 19th fight and win against Wladimir Klitschko

Please give a reason for your decision

AJ's and it isn't even close. That said, he will never achieve what Floyd has IMO

Mayweather didn't go life and death with past prime Hernandez did he? So his win is greater by far.

Why dont you think its close whichever way you see it?
Wlad was coming off a loss and was 41 as well as not being overly active in the last year

Do you think Hernandez was prime at that time?

No, he was past prime. Wlad was past prime as well. But the difference is that Mayweather beat the past prime version of Hernandez more convincingly. Joshua got knocked down hard, lost several rounds, and had to spit out his mouthpiece to buy some time against Wlad.

    Joshua by far.

Wlad is one of the greatest fighters ever, he did lose to Fury, granted but this was a big big fight.

I picked Joshua to steamroll him, but instead I saw Wlad answer questions I'd asked for years. He came back from a heavy knockdown, he didn't gas, he fought on the inside.

The version of Wlad that Joshua fought was a great fighter, not as good as he once was, but 80% of an amazing talent is better than 100% of most talents.

For Joshua to come through that test speaks volumes.

But more than that, the division has a lot more prestige so rightly or wrongly its quite clearly a greater victory.

    AJ.

I think AJ had a more difficult test in Wlad than Mayweather did in Hern. So it makes sense he had a harder time getting the victory. But Wlads form that night, his motivation, and his standing as an atg heavyweight (imo), combines to give the edge to AJ's win, imo.

He never went life and death with Hernandez. He beat him so badly they had to pull him out after the 8th because had he continued, he definitely would have been seriously hurt. May was putting a massive beating on him, rest his soul!

That being said, Wlad is probably the better win

Mayweather's win over Hernandez. Hernandez may have been a bit past his prime but was still performing at a high level. Klitschko on the other hand hadn't looked good for several years and was coming off a long layoff. He looked atrocious against Fury and Jennings. He just looked like an old fighter who couldn't pull the trigger any longer.

Joshua struggled with his "older and far more shop-worn" fighter while Mayweather put on a master class.

I would add that it is not about Joshua passing a test.
Do you rate Furys victory over Wlad as greater?

You are aware that Hernandez was a reigning champ who had beaten A Nelson?

I think hes definately one of the greatest heavies of all time. Sometime's not to good on the eye, but the results say it all !

To be fair to AJ, Hernandez was never a 9 year+ unified champ

Furys win over Wlad was more impressive for me, he did against an active Wlad who had been undefeated for nearly a decade.

Fury does have a greater victory, he unseated one of the most dominant champions in boxing history. But it wasn't his 19th fight.

Yeah I know who Hernandez was but if we're gonna talk about past prime how much credit does one deserve for beating that version of Nelson. He was smashed against Hoya but that was in a higher weight so I can't hold that against him. I don't think anyone else beat him, but he doesn't have a resume anywhere close to Wlads imo. I mean yeah an old Nelson is still an ATG victory and arguably a better individual victory than any Wlad has, but the depth of resume is unquestionably in the favour of Wlad.

For me Wlad is one of history's great champions and Hernandez isn't. Wlad had been beaten by Fury but he didn't take much damage at all, he just couldn't do his strategy as he was against a taller rangier stronger fighter. I mean I'm not sure if prime for prime Wlad ever beats Fury, but then again Fury hasn't fought since so who knows.
