Both Jones and Calzaghe beat Hopkins but which win is more significant in terms of legacy ... I think Calzaghe's because Hopkins was considered ring champion at LHW at that time.

Did Jones had similar win on his resume?

Calzaghe's because he needs it to enhance his record a lot more than Jones Jr does.

    Jones'

All Calzaghe's win did was confirm that Hopkins would have won it if he were in his prime, and no in his mid-DAMN-forties.

On the other hand, despite how green Hopkins may have been (perhaps the same, or less, as Roy) - it's hard to see how any Hopkins-Roy fight at anytime could end up with any different result. Roy UD Hopkins around-about-ish 116-112.

Roy said it best, "Joe claims to be THE legend-killer, but he can't be. All this fight did was affirm the legends status as a legend"

Roy's will be looked back on as more significant because Hopkins went on to not lose for over a decade after. Neither Roy nor Calzaghe fought a peak Hopkins, but years from now when people take a look at history, beating a guy who was a little green and not yet at his best will look better than beating a 43 year old.

The fact that Hopkins was reigning champ adds a lot to Calzaghe's win, although Roy won a portion of the belt that was up for grabs.

Both RJJ and B-Hop were in their first title fight, with RJJ taking a 8-4 decision likely due to his vastly superior amateur background and his better natural talent. RJJ did not get that much better after that fight, he of course became more experienced and eventualy turned into more of a counter-puncher than a fighter who uses his speed to produce great offense, but overall he didn't get much better. Hopkins did. He learned much more, and transformed from an aggressive brawler with some good skills, to a complete fighter in every sense, one who could do anything in the ring in his prime. It would have been interesting to have seen them fight again at their peeks, but it never happened.

Calzaghe on the other hand fought a much craftier, skilled, and ring smarter fighter than Jones, but one who at 43, was much easier to tire. Calzaghe did not outbox Hopkins, he didn't out-punch him or out-think him either, he simply set to high of a pace for a 43-year old man to cope with, which sounds better when you mention that the 43-year old man is Bernard Hopkins, but it is still no GREAT acheivement, or anything even remotely spectacular.

Neither fought the best B-Hop, but RJJ's win was much more clear than Calzaghe's, so I'll say he deserves more credit for beating Hopkins than does Calzaghe. It was much more significant (and really essential) to Calzaghe's career to beat Hopkins than it is to Jones career as Hopkins was not considered anything special at the time. So, Jones has the better win, but Calzaghe's is more significant to his career.

Alot of fans and media feel that Calzaghe did not even actually beat Hopkins.

Jones win. Of course Roy haters will eventually say that Jones beat a green Hopkins.

Well Jones won clearly but to Jones it isn't really a massive win while it's probably Calzaghe's biggest win. I'd go for Calzaghe.

Jones win was before his and Bernard's prime....Calzaghe's was after his and Bernard's.

The thing is, Jones beat Hopkins clearly. Jones and Hopkins were also closer to their respective primes and basically at the same point in their careers...than Hopkins was vs Calzaghe....where Joe (tho out of his prime clearly) was much more closer to his best then Bernard was.

Both were fantastic wins, but because of what I outlined above...Id go with Jones.
