I`m not a Calzaghe fan by any means, but in the build up to Calzaghe/Lacey the American press we`re hyping this guy up to be something huge.
From comparisons to Mike Tyson to Lacey having the best Left hook in boxing.
The bull**** just kept coming thick and fast.

Calzaghe was a dead man walking:dead

then for Joe to effectively end Lacey` career was truly stunning.

Looking back now it`s easy to say he beat a no hoper, but at the time Calzaghe was meant to lose this fight, or even get KO`d.

Joe`s best performance by some way.

How is anyone voting for the Lacy win, Lacy at no point in his career beat anyone at all worth mentioning in any historical significance, or even at the time for that matter. Hopkins was 700 in the shade and embarrassed a guy who had just destroyed and convincingly outpointed a world class fighter in the form of Taylor.

Calzaghe's win over Lacy is only significant in an exposure sense.

People seem to be mistaking misplaced hype and publicity for ability.

Dont ever underestimate the phsycology of seeing some non muscled white guy pound the **** out of a heavyly muscled black guy confirmed Joe C as a God for these idiots. Then he beats BHOP the underlying psychology behind these two bull**** wins and you are absolutely corect and understand why these ****s love Joe C and wont let this **** rest.

i started this thread and if u think i care bout this white guy beating black guy bull**** then i dont give a **** bout dat. I aint white or black so dont get it twisted. I just made this thread coz they were amongst the best performances in the decade. But Hopkins beating Pavlik was better by miles in my opinion

Theres different ways of looking at it. Pavlik beat a good fighter in Taylor, but after Taylor beat Hopkins, he only drew with Wright (a good fighter also), but looked bad against Ouma, and Spinks who are smaller fighters who took him the distance. Hopkins win over Pavlik was great but Pavlik had to come up 2 divisions from where he is at his best, to fight Hopkins.

I had only seen lacy fight for the first time against calzaghe and if u ask me lacy was all hype. Hopkins was a four to one underdog against pavlik and took him to skool. Hopkins win was better. Calzaghes legacy isnt much. Jones was shot, lacy never was but il admit it was a gud performance. Kessler has shown that hes one dimensional and hopkins was ROBBED. Calzaghe wudnt even give him a rematch becos he knew the truth.

    And tell me why?

Both are one dimensional punchers and where overated mainly by the US who are looking for a superstar as once Mayweather retires you will have **** all.

One im not a Calzaghe nuthugger, but the **** he gets one here is over the top at times.

Calzaghe schooled a guy who was meant to be the next big thing in the 168, who had some good wins over good opposition, and he did it with a damaged hand.

Hopkins schooled a guy who was meant to be the next big thing at 160, who had a good wins over good opposition, but he made the guy come up 2 divisions.

Im not hating on Hopkins win, it was good, but i think Calzaghes was better.
