Which win was more impressive? Mosley/Margarito or Hopkins/Pavlik?

Cases that can be made for Hopkins are:

    1) He beat an undefeated fighter while Mosley did not
    2) Hopkins had indicated that age might have finally caught up to him in the Calzaghe fight while Mosley, whlie not overly impressive, still did KO Mayorga and looked very good against Cotto.

Margos chin is still granite. He just got worn down. I was shocked.

    Agree with all of this.

Deciding factor for me though is that, prior to these fights, Marg looked beatable (even during the Cotto fight) whereas Kelly, for all his flaws, looked able to beat down an old man. Even if the old man in question was the ever green BHop.

I agree with this post in general, except for a couple minor points. KP has fought n the 168+ range several times. Of course those guys were all guys off the "D" list. Also, it wasn't the flu the week before, it was bronchitis that came on 4 days before the fight.

However, Bernard's perfromance was absolutley brilliant, so I would not say Mosely's win was "way" bigger.

I'd say shanes....Bigger man who was seen as the Top or one of the Top WW champions. Pav moved up in weight against a larger foe in Bhop although AGE for Bhop was a HUGE disadvantage! Pretty close but Shane sneaks this one.

I was going to pick Mosley's win but then I remembered that Roach didn't want Hopkins to fight PAvlik. HE thought hopkins wouuld get hurt in that fight. They were equally impressive

Mosley, and I'm a big Hopkins fan.

He destroyed a guy 90% of the boxing world thought couldn't be stopped.

mosleys win was most impressive simply because he was fighting a bigger guy

Mosley was written off years ago and has blown hot and cold so many times.

Everyone thought the Sugar was gone from Shane.

Nobody expected him to beat The Man at 147 to become The Man again and the genuine world champion, all those years after he lost his title to Forrest.

Many people predicted that Hopkins could beat Pavlik.

What Shane did is truely incredible.

Shane is the most determined fighter in the sport today, and after all those tough fight's and losses for so many years he never once quit or listended to the doubters.

Shane is THE ****ing MAN and shocked the world!

Pavlik's fought at 166 (came in at 164) against Taylor. Pavlik was a huge MW. Before the fight, most people didn't even consider this factor. Only AFTER Hopkins dominated Pavlik did this factor become a factor.
