Decades from now which do you think would make Pac greater to the the public eye: 1 - scaring Floyd to face him in the ring (incase they never fight) or 2 - knocking Floyd out if ever they do fight. Coz the way I see it, if ever they don't fight it would be pac's greatest achievement: it means he was able to defeat his greatest opponent even without fighting him! imagine that
depends, if he says he doesnt want the fight because he is scared to death would hurt him more, but i prefer the ko.
That's pretty silly if you think about it. There are a number of factors that go in making a fight and when you are dealing with two superstars under different promotional companies then you are likely to have issues. I think Option two would obviously make him greater to the public eye. I don't necessarily think that Manny would gain significant mileage from a fight not coming off especially since he'd be the betting underdog should they in fact meet. It takes two to make a fight, the first negotiation breakdown was Pacquiao's fault. the second breakdown was Mayweather's fault. So they are equally at fault that this fight didn't happen. Pacquiao's recent victory keeps him relevant to the public and as a result Mayweather's silence and lack of activity automatically gives Manny the edge from the public's perspective. Bottom line is history will be kind Manny Pacquaio on the basis of his illustrious and legendary career thus far but not fighting Mayweather will raise more questions than answers.
k.o.....a lot of haters can hate on the other thing....but if manny knocks lil floyd (the best boxer of this era who has never looked challenged) out, what can they hate on
Pacquiao Mayweather is not a foregone conclusion. This is just what happens in big build ups where both guys look immense. Pacquiao knocks Hatton unconscious and he will onviously beat Floyd. We see Mayweather DOMINATE Marquez and people claim Floyd will win. Then Pacquiao annihilates Cotto and it's Manny again. Floyd hammers the hell out of Mosley and it's Floyd... It will go on. They will both add immensely to their legacies if and when they fight and put on (as I suspect might happen if they do) a GREAT fight. It would pit probably the most offensively effective and vicious fighter today against the most impenetrable defence used in the sport in this era. It could be a war with Manny strafing Floyd's great defence with upwards of 1000 punches and definitely getting through as he get's caught by some unbelievable snappy Mayweather counter punches and leads. Offensive beast vs Master boxer and defensive fighter. Awesome. Whatever the outcome of say, a 12 round fight like that, both guys would secure their legacies even more. The 0 is overrated. Great fighters fight great fights and pit their skills against the best, regardless if they lose or not. That's what we need.
interesting concept But how long and strong will the memory of "floyds ducking" be evident? A KO win for manny will be written in history books (boxrec), somehting that can never be taken away or debated
It's easier to scare Floyd than to actually KO him. If scaring Floyd makes you great you can say the following ducked boxers have victories over him: 1. Miguel Cotto 2. Paul Williams 3. Antonio Margarito 4. Andre Berto 5. Manny Pacquiao
Three things that would make Pac great 1. By agreeing to the full random testing would make him OK 2. By getting in the ring with Mayweather would make him GOOD 3. Actually beating Mayweather would make him GREAT Now if he can just stop the bull **** and agree to the first thing, do the second thing and complete the third thing. Then Manny would be consider great.
6 By my count... Just foolishness when you consider that at 147 onwards Mayweather would be listed as the favorite, regardless of sentiment, come fight night..
