Would you want to be known as a power puncher? Maidana-Katsidis-Gatti(RIP)-Valero(RIP) etc

    Or

A fast(speed) boxer with not much power? Whitaker-Malignaggi-Byrd etc

Speed is power. Seriously, if one or another is total ****, you're **** in general.

Edit: Actually reading the opening post I choose Whitaker etc. But would really prefer RJJ, Haye etc.

Speed is the ultimate killer in boxing, no matter what anybody says.

I think speed can increased to a certain degree, with repetition and working the plyometrics.

Power is something you're born with. Power like Randall Bailey, Foreman, Shavers doesn't come to everyone.

    I'd rather have power, IMO.

Speed (with correct timing) is the most important factor in boxing. It may help you to neutralize opponent's power.

My son said some ancient Greek was given the task of separating the Olympic events by speed/strength. He classified boxing as a speed event. Speed IS POWER if used correctly. Simple physics. Would you rather get hit by a bullet going 1 mile an hour or 200 miles an hour?

Speed will get you to the top. Power will get you a reputation and that's about it.

You can have amazing speed with average power and be a great fighter, but if you don't have speed then no amount of power in the world is going to save you.

Whittaker wasnt that soft a puncher.

Anyway, Id rather have mega ton power than just lightening speed and no power.

Speed diminishes, power will always be there. Plus its **** to have no power, look at malignaggi. you can be the quickest in the world but if u cant crack an egg then what is there to fear?
