Plenty of bums of the street have KO power.

    Speed is less common.

Speed can also equate to power with correct training and technique, albeit delivered less frequently than a pure power puncher.

I'd opt for speed. Then again, my right hand is already ambien.

Personally, I like power, but that's because it's better to use on the streets. Very few of us will have professional boxing careers, so if we ever get into a fight on the streets, Power + Technique trumps speed in most cases.

But if you have both...you got it made.

But you could say the same for the guys with speed. You could say they hit like girls.

To be honest though, if you have a ton of speed, but no power at all, at some point fighters will walk right through you. If you get in the ring with a guy with a great chin, size, and volume punching, he will cut that tree down and bang you out.

Ideally you want to be like Pacquaio or Martinez. Even Mayweather has some pop.

The fact is though, if you look throughout history, the fighters that make the most money are guys that can knock you out.

Louis, Marciano, Tyson, Foreman, Hearns, Dempsey, etc...

They all had power. Don't get me wrong, some had speed too, and obviously power alone isn't enough, but I think power is the one of the single most important indicators of having a successful career from a financial perspective.

I mean, who the hell wants to watch Corey Spinks? Speaking of that, Spinks still has plenty enough speed, even though he's obviously not in his prime, but a guy like K9 who has the attributes listed above still managed to beat the **** outta him.

Everything else being equal, speed will trump power.

Correct technique and timing, with superior speed will still put your opponent on the canvas.

The pertinent factor is that to perform for 10-12 rounds as a boxer wants to - hit without being hit, and win rounds - doesn't require each punch to be a KO blow. When the opportunity presents itself though, a KO punch is still possible.

In most cases you need both or you will have to duck certain fighters.

A guy with power will likely have to duck a guy with speed and movement.

A guy with speed will have to duck a guy with size, chin, and volume punching.

That's why I said, "everything else being equal".

Personally, I'm satisfied with my power and would appreciate more speed.

Those blessed with speed would probably appreciate more power.

But as a general rule, all else being equal, speed will trump power.

But with raw punching power you will always be a threat to even the most skilled of fighters. With speed you need to be on your game for the duration of the scheduled bout. Not that you normally don't need to be, but one punch KO power only takes a second to end the fight.

Power mixed with great technical ability means that you don't need any speed at all. Case in point: Wladimir Klitschko

I've always had knockout power but I'd gladly trade it for speed.

Slickness (ring intelligence) over everything. You could lack both and beat fighters with intelligence and experience
