I think everyone should keep into consideration these two things...

    1) Cotto, talent and skillwise, is one of the best fighters Pac has ever fought (I consider him at least close to how good JMM, Barrera, Morales are).

    2) Pac is really a natural lightweight at this point (you could even argue superfeather if you wanted to!)...Cotto is a natural welterweight.

These points considered, I think most should agree this is the toughest fight Pac may have ever had to face up to this point. This is the same guy who at one point was going life and death with extremely talented featherweights in JMM and Morales, fighting an extremely talented welterweight in Cotto.

However, this is the same reason I think Pac will win. Pac does not handle speed and straight punches well. Morales and JMM were successful because they not only could handle Pac's speed, but were able to quickly counter with straight rights.

Cotto, although powerful, is not that fast. On top of that, he is consistently wide open down the middle. Pac IMO will find a target for that straight left and will wear Cotto down, probably to a late stoppage on a cut.

The straight left and uppercut could turn out to be quite bothersome for Cotto. I think If Cotto can cut off the ring, keep Manny from dancing around andtime his jab right Cotto can win.

One thing to keep in mind is that Pac was the agressor in the two fights you mentioned. I dont see Pac planting his feet long enough to land anything serious as is Cotto will be the agressor. Cotto's patience and his jab should keep Pac on the defensive most of the night. Roach wanted this fight at 142-143 for a reason. To slow Cotto down even more and make him weak. Roach is worried and for good reason.

cotto should do what many believed hatton could do and thats pressure pac and use his superior strength at ww,, but i was wrong then and since the margarito fight cotto hasnt been as good,, the jury is well and truelly out on this one,, should be a brawl none the less

I dont know why but some people do. My prediction is just like when Tito fought Vargas it became painfully clear whithin the first 30 sec that vargas was in too deep. This IMO will happen to pac

For all we know...Cotto's ring weight has been set in the contract at 147...1 million dollars for every pound over that.

That's what Oscar had to do in order to get Manny in the ring.

Don't be surprised if Cotto enters the ring looking like Ivan Calderon on crack.:yep

Cotto fires a good straight right hand.

Manny is there for that punch all day.:deal

wow, cannot understand why most everyone thinks pacquiao is just going to run roughshod over miguel cotto who i think is far from finished. okay, so he got beaten by margarito who's hands were probably loaded, he beat mosley, beat clottey etc...i think cotto is one hell of a welterweight with good welterweight speed, power and boxing skills.

i also think pacquiao's recent success might be somewhat of an aberration after beating david diaz, an almost deadman oscar and destroying hatton. if you look at the hatton fight, even though hatton got blown out, he was still able to tag pacquiao a few times before he was nuked out of there. cotto on the other hand has superior handspeed to hatton, superior defense, superior jab, superior skills, superior power etc...

sometimes in life things always don't look quite as rosy as they may seem!

Personally I think JMM, Barrera, and Morales are head and shoulders above Cotto in all those categories. Those guys have achieved a level of all-time greatness which I don't think Cotto will ever come close to. Basically, Cotto doesn't have anything Pac hasn't seen before.

The only thing Cotto really has on Pac when compared to his past opponents is a substantial size advantage. If it weren't for that and both he and Pac were the same size I'm positive pac would run straight through Cotto with relative ease.

    r2d2,

New flash.......cotto is not a washed up fighter like de la hoya and is a much superior fighter than hatton. what pacquiao did to oscar and hatton has no bearing on how he fights against cotto.

PAC will not have an easy time with Cotto. Coming from a PAC fan!
