Getting punched repeatedly in the face and not being able to hit the other guy back is getting your ass kicked.

 

Was Chavez ever hurt? Did he have marks on his face that looked like he really was messed up? If not he wasnt getting his ass kicked.

Actually, the majority of them think Whitaker deserved the fight as well.

 

The footage clearly showed him beating up Chavez on the inside in their exchanges. And he stood his ground in those exchanges. How about actually watching the fight without your Mexican Pride goggles on and getting a clue.

 

I would call it running or some would call it "boxing".

Please stop it. If you can't give Pea his due for the masterclass performance that he displayed that night against Chavez then please find a new sport. This is boxing and what Pea did that night was boxing at its highest level.:deal

I understand the sweet science aspect of boxing but when you do stupid **** like hold someones leg and hold for the majority of the round or running for the whole round. That aint boxing. :deal

 

Prime for prime Pea beats most of DLH's era of boxers including Floyd, Shane and even guys from this era like Cotto, Paul and Marg. Pernelle was a great, great fighter with outstanding senses of what to do in the ring.

 

DLH was good no doubt, especially when he was younger and got his special weigh ins so he could fight the smaller guys.

The only thing I disagree with was that he was an A level fighter not a B+. He was good just that he was never the best of his generation. Especially when he moved up into 147-154 he was never the best there though he made the most money. He would always have lost to Mosley and there is a reason he never fought Winky. When talking about ATG status he would have lost to atleast 3 of the 4 of the fab 4 from the 80s....


Also he had good power especially when he was at 135-140 but higher up he still had a good hook but his power wasnt great.


Nothing Whitaker said was really that shocking, it is mostly accurate.
