I think I had Mayweather at #39. A great, great fighter, but not quite in the same birth as these two.

Of course Roy is still active!

    Record:
    Jones 52-4 (92.86%)
    Whitaker 40-4 (90.91%)

    KOs:
    Jones 38 KOs (67.86%)
    Whitaker 17 KOs (38.63%)

    Titles:
Jones middleweight, super middleweight, light heavyweight, heavy weight. 4 weight classes

Whitaker lightweight, welter weight, and light middleweight.

    What criteria are you using?

Spew out nonsense, what the **** are you taling about, son?

I'm laughing with the guy because we both struggle to spell the same name? Is it possible you're being just a little over anxious here?

Jones says that Benn was offered "seven figures" to step in with Roy and turned it down. I find that hard to believe actually. Would have been a fight.

That was less than an hour before he fought! Oh man, guys got ice water for blood.

    Records...

Whitaker having two clear robberies in Ramirez and Chavez and three more losses after his prime, when he was drug abused and in and out of rehab (and one WAS STILL DEBATABLE....and one he was up until he hurt his shoulder and had to quit)...Jones having one DQ loss and the rest after his prime....but 2 by BRUTAL KO!

    Resume...

Whitaker beat Nelson, Chavez (should have at least...I think we all can agree this was a win right???), Ramirez x2 (see the last sentance), Vazquez, McGirt x2, Haugen, Mayweather, Paez, Rivera x2 (one admittingly close one), Hurtado and arguably DLH.

Jones beat Hopkins, Toney, Paz, Mccallum, Griffin x2 (again like Whitaker - Chavez...ya know), Hill, Tarver, Ruiz and a BLOWN UP Trinidad.

    Titles...

    You already spoke on this.

(ya cant really go on KO's...that aint a part of Pernell's game...its like judging a QB on rushing yards....)

    Skills...

Both ultra skilled defensively...but while Roy is among the discussion of one of the top ten ever....Pernell is arguably THE TOP EVER!!!

Both ultra skilled offensively....but Pernell lacked power hut was phenominal in every other way to make this close (as the above).

See, I have their records as being close. But Jones' losses are much more clear...and devastating at times. And being fair, most of Whitaker's blemishes can be argued to be erased. Other than his DQ...ya cant say that about Roy.

Their resumes arent close. Whitaker's is legendary...Roy's is questionable at times...phenominal at times.

Their titles, Roy gets the nod on this...but you also have to look at whom they beat to win (or keep) these titles, and doing that, Whitaker again beat the MUCH better fighters. This is close, but I would still give it to Roy.

Their skills, again are close. One is arguably the best defender...one arguably the best offender (ya know what I mean...LOL). A wash if ya ask me...tho you could argue Roy.

I have Roy about 20-25 all time (depending on when ya ask me). I have Whitaker 7-12 all time (same criteria).

BTW, I wasnt knocking ya pick. My three favorite fighters EVER are Whitaker, Hopkins, Jones...in that order. But I got Whitaker ahead by mostly by having a MUCH better resume. I just wanted to know why you chose Jones...thats all.

Your criteria sounds pretty subjective. So, how about this:

I rank Whitaker somewhere well below Bojorquez and I rank RJJ well above Bojorquez. Therefore, RJJ > Sweet Pea.

Whitaker has titles in 4 weight classes actually. He won the IBF Light WW title from Pineda. So they are even there.

I rank Whitaker between 10-12 and Jones between 20-25 everytime I do the rankings.

And I am a HUGE Jones fan.
