Whitaker outclassing Chavez

Love his feinting in that fight and switching punches in the middle of when he was throwing it.
Couple of times he feinted the uppercut and seemed to be half way into it but turned it over and brought it over the top.

 

Pernel got in the wrong line and learned fencing insted of fighting.
Nah, it is what it is...Boring fight actually made at least 6 years too late.

Sad that there are still some people on here who feel Chavez won (or the draw was just).

Is there anyone besides Divac who has said this? And he has said he thinks Whitaker may have won, only that the draw could be argued.

I disagree and so does almost everyone else, of course.

 

Made 6 years too late? What bull**** is that? That is just completely biased toward Chavez. You're telling me the fight should've been made at Chavez's exact peak but prior to Whitaker's? Chavez was at his very best in '87 against Rosario, whereas Whitaker was still a bit pre-prime. He didn't really hit his peak until about '89, by which time Chavez had moved up to 140.

Chavez was ranked #1 P4P when he faced Whitaker, even if he wasn't at his peak. The same can be said of Whitaker, as his prime was at LW as well, though Chavez was a bit further past his peak than Pea. Both were still around their primes though.

 

If anyone thought that the fight between Chavez and Whitiker was a draw or that Chavez won well you and Rick James have a common habbit !!!

 

Whitaker defo should have won Chavez that night by decision.
It was no beating, nor was it a wash just won on the fact Chavez did not show up to fight like he normaly did, Pernel did. and he should have won on PTS. Whitaker has the style to beat a Chavez 99/100

But it defo did not live up to the hype.
